Tauranga Bridge Marina — Attraction in North Island

nice place to park for a while. Grassy area to sit and have a picnic. A small sandy beach for kiddies to wade in while you sit on the grass to watch them. A walk along the pontoon walkways give a great view of the harbour and all the boats moored. A good place to sit on the walkway, dangle your feet and fish over the harbour side. No casting into the marina boat-side. (Hint.. fish at high tide just as it turns). There is a restaurant down by the entry and I think (but not 100% sure) a Chandlery. We had a cuppa & a bite to eat outside at Salinity Restaurant and Bar whilst waiting for a rescheduled flight. It was a treat to to smell the fresh salty sea air, watch the cranes across at the port unloading cargo, have some relaxing downtime soaking up the sun and watching the action of people leaving their boats after a day or two on the water. Really good place to take the kids and family. Can teach them how to fish off the pontoon as well as swim in the sheltered beach area. The walkways also extend down there now and underneath the Tauranga Harbour Bridge.
