Caledonian Park — Attraction in Northland

I was at Caledonian Park for the Scottish Highland games. Which I highly recommend you go to if you get the chance. Waipu is a great little town and a good time was had by all. I wouldn't know what the park looks like when there's no festival going on but it seemed to be a perfect park. It is home to the Waipu rugby and squash clubs. It's a large park with sports fields and it is in the center of Waipu making it easy to find. I thought it was also the perfect place to hold a large event. Plenty of room to set up food trucks and vendors. Even though it was very busy it didn't feel too crowded. Because I was there for the festival I really didn't notice if there was play equipment for kids but I can't imagine there isn't. I'm also pretty sure there are picnic tables and places to have a BBQ. There is what looked to be a multi-use large building where maybe people can rent for different occasions. On the day I was there they were selling beer inside. I did notice lots of tables set up as well. I'm sure they have a website where you can find all the amenities they have here.

Visited this park for the Waipu Highland Games. Lots of fun and so much to see and watch. The park is huge with public toilets available and a club that they often have vendors in. The grounds were well kept and there was no mushy mud or anything.

There is a 4 square right outside the gates and a little down the road with an ATM outside.

Very disappointing not to have clear website info that's easily found for the Highland Games. Seems an uncoordinated event. Questions that need answers to: Event location (address); facilities available on the day such as: parking, food and toilets; entry fees; disabled access; St John's attendance; inquiries link; kids activities; stalls; seating; start/end times; program for the day etc etc. Come on, this is a popular...
