Pulse Energy Recreation Centre — Attraction in South Island

I went here for a week during my recent stay in Westport. This is a nifty little setup with access to a very well equipped and well run gym which also offers an excellent assortment of group classes. The centre has squash courts and a wonderful swimming pool, along with Tribe fitness classes. They also have a first class AstroTurf arena where hockey and other sports are run. The guys at the counter are amazing and they sell many supplies and snacks. The changing rooms were always immaculate during my visits and the parking lot has abundant space. I like it. I only visited the pool with my daughter and we both had a great time. The aquatic center boasts one really small pool for babies and toddlers and a generous sized toddler pool that is just deep enough for adults to sit in and supervise their children in comfort. There is another pool suitable for older children that is 1.4m deep at the deep end and a (presumably) Olympic sized pool. Pretty good facilities for a small town like Westport. The complex also has basketball courts, a modern fitness center and outdoor sports facilities which I think are hockey turfs and tennis courts....

The Solid Energy Centre is a fantastic facility well used by locals and I know many visitors from the rest of NZ we have had visit, have commented that they envy it. We use the pool, group exercise timetable, TRIBE classes, stadium for sport and attend regular events and functions in the Holcim room and stadium.
