Spent an hour here while we waited for the owners to have a family reunion or something and in that time this place genuinely became one of the worst we have seen. It stank like dense smoke with a hint of sewerage (from the sulfur released by their coal heaters (doesnt anyone care about the environment here?)). There seemed to be a few people around, all of which seemed to be just as angry at us as they were at the stench of this place and its tired facilities which put us off even more. I used the bathrooms while I was here, the taps were too small to put your hands under the water to get them wet and the toilet paper could hardly be called toilet paper, it was more like crate paper from the 5 cent store. When the time posted on the door rolled around for the grand reopening of the office, the owners were still having their funeral celebrations or whatever they were doing (which we could see and hear from the campground, all while receiving dirty looks from the family) instead of running their business, meaning we would of had to wait even longer to even ask any questions or even pay them to stay there. We decided it was in our best interest to fork out a whopping $4 more to stay at an actual campsite nearby, which had amazing facilities, was clean and did not stink like death, something we shouldn't think to avoid as a customer.
I don't know why anyone would subject themselves...
Read moreWe arrived here Saturday afternoon. Lovely setting & kids playground looked great. It was definitely overpriced - $85 for 2 nights for a power point & that included a 5% discount. Facilities were dirty. Nothing had been cleaned by the time we left on Monday morning - the same food scraps were still on the kitchen bench & bathroom facilities not touched either. The kitchen light was not working at 6:45pm on Sunday. We went to contact the manager, with no luck. Just a note on the door to say "closed & will be open again by 9am Monday"!! So dishes were done by torchlight. Dogs were allowed to run free & do their business anywhere, without owner supervision although we did see the manager cleaning up some dog droppings once. The hot water coal furnace belched out black suffocating smoke. It definitely needs some maintenance. It is a shame that such a lovely camp can be left to run down so much. We would not recommend it in it's present...
Read moreVery nice camp. Most sites are on gravel which is good if you get rain; tend to stay dryer. Very clean ablutions block.||Only drawback is having to pay $2 for an 8min shower. Firstly - I'd never have an 8min shower, but if I'm paying for 8min then I will. Given the camp fees, I don't see the need to charge for showers. We are self contained, so I just showered in the caravan.||Mini golf is fun. Was a bit disconcerting that sites aren't allocated when you book. It was pouring when we arrived and had trouble finding a site. Turned out one of the smallest vans in camp was on one of the big sites. This probably wouldn't happen if sites were allocated rather than "go find one".||We would definitely come back though. Pet friendly and...
