We were only visitors for a short stay. Haven't made good use of this centre. You can get information here and can also buy supplies for the climbing the snow mountains. There' s also a museum and movie to watch. It's a pity that we didn't have time to enjoy all these. Hope I can stay a few days here next time when I came.

This is attached to the hermitage hotel it has a large shop selling hiking gear but quite expensive it has very few general items. The cafe on the first floor is welcome after the hiking but can get very crowded when the tours return. There is a small museum

The museum is dedicated to Sir Edmund Hillary while he was in Aoraki training in preparation for his ascent on Everest. It also has the 1st glacier landing plane located there. Awesome 👌

Awful wrap. Facilities were nice, and I loved the scenery- picturesque. However, when i'm out in the cold for hours and my feet are soaking wet from snow- I needed a good solid wrap. Definitely a tourist trap. Museum was nice, but after 25 minutes you’re left wandering around a little miffed. I want to say because this was important to me; very unfortunately the wrap did not deliver. The feta ratio was entirely off (literally an entire feta block's worth) and none of it tasted fresh. soggy wrap with feta and the occasional leaf If I was lucky. It was meant to be have a variety of flavour, instead it was a soggy wrap with triple feta, a single lettuce leaf and single floury tomato slice. Surely it just had to be my luck, I’ll give benefit of the doubt. Though, went to glenorchy a few days later and had a better wrap there, 10/10 for that one. The most gorgeous pulled pork, packed with flavour and a variety of fresh ingredients- had scenery just as...

Had high hopes for this place and was excited to visit and learn about one of our national icons. Well, I was very disappointed!! The $65 cost for 2 adults and a child was much too expensive. Maybe tourists are happy to pay this but IMO this is a rip-off, keep the cost down!! The museum itself was fairly basic and we covered most things off in 20 minutes. The movies would be ok if you were staying in hotel and had time to watch these, we were only there for a day visit so only watched part of one movie. Gutted that my hard earned $65 went to such a wasteful experience and even more gutted that this is how we showcase one of our treasures and to top it off, we'll charge you a lot of money for the experience!! if my poor experience can save others from the same pain, then all...

The museum wasn't very inviting to visit especially given the high price so I skipped on that. The shop has nice stuff but some items are seriously overpriced. They indicate clearly that they are cashless. What they do not indicate clearly is that they take a 2% surcharge on every payment with a credit card. I call that milking people for their money. I wish I could have said the service in store would have made it worth it but that was just average with one girl being quite uninterested and another girl struggljng with her English. I am glad I left some items out on my purchase as I only noticed on my return that they added the surcharge. In Europe this would be called fraud and made them go out of business...
