Just head straight up to the Tasman Lake View point as you can also see the Blue Lakes as you hike up towards the highest point to get amazing views of the lake.

We went up on a cold and windy day where the rain was extremely strong. After viewing the top, head back down and hike around 1.2km to the Tasman River and you can climb down the rocks to the river bank and actually touch the river water and if you are lucky, pick up some pieces of glacier ice that is close to the river bank.

Total time spent should be around 1 to 1.5 hours(return) to complete the...

After decending from Tasman Glacier View, we took a walk towards the jetty.

A relatively easy stroll along gravel paved roads, which took us about 30 minutes to reach the jetty.

It was a sunny day with cool winds and the warmth of the sun.

We were surprised to see the glacier melting right in front of our eyes even when it was during winter.

A huge chunk of glacier was floating right at the jetty where my mother could touch it.

I was even joking by asking my mum to have a...

Tasman Glacier in the Mountain National Park is 23.5 kilometers long, 4 kilometers wide, and 600 meters thick. It is the longest glacier in New Zealand. Visitors can get a panoramic view of the Blue Lakes and Tasman Lake glaciers when they go to a higher place. This is a key itinerary that many people will take when coming to New Zealand. You can also take the Tasman Glacier Heli-hike or the Tasman Glacier Explorers boat to get up close and personal with...

Worth the short walk, along the track there is a fork - either the jetty to the left, or the river to the right - just do the river lookout. Some areas are open and exposed if there is any wind. It's beautiful even when cloudy. We went right up to the shoreline and there were perfectly clear ice chunks! If you're thinking of doing the other track up the hill, "Tasman Glacier View Track", I'd recommend to do that one first.
