Check in was great, the lady on reception was super nice and helpful. I was staying in a basic cabin - basically just a bed, small table and chairs, towels, a fan and a heater. They have pot boxes with everything you need for the kitchen available to hire for free. Every other holiday park I've stayed at charged money and a bond for these, so that was awesome. They will also provide you with tea/coffee and fresh milk. I was also delighted to discover electric blankets on the bed! Nice to toast it up a bit before you jump in, the bed was comfy and the covers were warm. There was also a blanket if needed.||The park itself is lovely and quiet, away from the hubbub of town and seemingly protected from the wind. Super spacious too - it was the only stay of my entire trip that I wasn't a bit anxious about getting a park/fitting into my park/someone else blocking my park. You have all the grassed area to park next to the cabin, as well as a picnic table and outdoor chairs on your little deck. Cabin 2 is mere steps away from the shared facilities so super easy to pop over to the bathrooms or get some boiling water for a tea. Despite being so close to the facilities it was pretty quiet, other than the odd group of people talking as they walked past, all I could hear was the birds and the wind. So peaceful. There are semi-obscured views down to the lake and also beautiful mountains behind you.||It's a short walk down into town, the park's location is also closer to Mt Aspiring National Park so you don't need to drive back through town to head off for a hike, which is nice!||The bathrooms were nice and warm, showers had ample dry space for your stuff, and 2 communal hairdryers. The laundry was amazing! The nicest laundry I've come across in my travels, machines in good working order and the whole area was just clean and well presented.||I particularly liked the number of hooks at this park - that sounds so random but hooks are so simple yet so handy, especially when you're travelling! There were lots of hooks in my cabin, and lots in the bathrooms. It just seemed like a very thoughtful extra touch by the park owners.||There is also a car wash and vacuum bay.||The price was really good for my little cabin, I was very comfortable and would definitely stay here again or recommend to friends...
Read moreGood park, close to town centre but was a little too far to walk with the weather we had. Our powered site had a nice view of wanakas mountains. We stayed here as it was closest park to centre, but the point is mute when you end up driving to town anyway.
The main negative is the bathrooms. Firstly they use timer lights and fans, which is great to save power but you don't realise until your sitting in the dark. Naturally you enter with lights and fans on and think nothing, but you need to hit the reset switch every time to ensure they stay on, which is not clear. The ceiling is all wet and peeling paint, probably because the ventilation keeps turning off. The mens has no urinals which with men unfortunately means there's piss all over the cubical floors because some people struggle to hit the target, especially when the lights go out. They shut the mens while they clean, and women's becomes unisex, and visa versa, maybe this is why there's no urinals but it seems to be the only park where this is done.. just clean them normally multiple times and day and put some urinals in so I dont have to sit in piss please.
Hot water couldn't keep up with hot, but stayed warm.
Camp facilities otherwise are great. Washing machines and dryers are expensive though $6 each per load, and unless you run the dryer on high and ruin your clothes, you spend $18 for a wash and dry.
Overall would maybe stay here again but would see what...
Read moreWonderful place to stay in Wanaka. We had a powered site booked for our motorhome but needed to stretch our legs, so managed to select one of two accommodation styles when we arrived. We viewed both and settled on booking the two bed motel suite #4, right on the front row overlooking Wanaka township and the mountains behind town with a water glimpse. Lovely suite, with a basic lounge/dining/full kitchen, bathroom and two rooms (one queen, one with a bunk and a single). Spotlessly clean, and well equipped. Only fault would be that our shower head has very little pressure. The park staff were happy to cancel our powered site and allowed us to park our motorhome free of charge, too. Reception staff member was lovely, full of good advice, and allowed an early check in too, no charge! We booked an hour in the cold lounge/hot spa/sauna room for the both of us which is completely private use for the hour booked. Was lovely. All the shared facilities are spotlessly clean. We also utilised one of the two Laundry/Dryer rooms, again, immaculately maintained. Top 10 parks seem to be the best kept parks in NZ in our experience. So glad we have quite a few booked for our South Island journey as none thus far, have let us down. We would highly recommend Wanaka Top 10 for any holiday goer needed either a place to park, or a room to stay. Location is lovely, and only a short ride or walk in to town or the lake. 5 ⭐️...
