Wanaka Homestead Lodge and Cottages — Hotel in South Island

Wow! Where to start. This place is a real gem! The manager's name is Karen and from the moment you walk in the doors she makes you feel welcome. You get the feeling that you are walking into a family member's house. She checks you in and then gives you a private tour of the property, the amenities, and your room. It is as charming and quaint as can be. Situated just a few blocks from the town, and a stone's throw from the lake. Karen is almost always available for suggestions about where to eat or activities to do. The room was spotless. My wife and I stayed two nights and when we got back from our bike ride the second day our room had been cleaned. The service is spectacular! One of the best features of Wanaka Homestead is the washer and dryer which really can come in handy on long vacations. There is a hot tub to unwind and a great room or parlor where guests can relax by the fire. That is also where breakfast is served. If you want to ride bikes around the lake or down to the restaurants Karen and the Wanaka Homestead has you covered. They have bikes, helmets, and locks to take at no additional charge. Hubby and I are having 7 night's here in the North room. Fantastic comfy B&B. Wonderful friendly staff who care about visitors having a great experience. Breakfast is tasty and plentiful enough. Nice to chat to the other guests around the oak table if you've time in the morning. Nice homely wood burner in the common lounge, makes it pleasant if you want to sit around on the comfy lounge chairs in the evening . Hot tub. Laundry. All the usuals in your room. A short walk in to town. The views in and around the Wanaka Lake area are amazing. We tried to have a healthy paced walk and you just can't, because you are always stopping to take yet another beautiful photograph! A photographer's paradise! Would recommend this place for a get away. Had a look at the self contained accommodation and these would definitely suit families and group bookings. Wanaka has lots to offer, shopping, great food options, walks, hikes, water activities, airport nearby for above ground experiences, deer museums, toy museums plus so much more. What a wonderful stay. We really enjoyed our baby moon at the homestead with Alan and his wife cooking us breakfast. Delicious homemade banana bread and scones as well as eggs and fresh walnuts. We stayed in the Master bedroom upstairs. Spacious and super clean. Beautiful views of the willow tree and homestead. Robes and natural products. The macrocarpa wood at the homestead is beautiful! The hot tub was lovely to sit by as my partner went in. Alan gave us a great map and recommendations for food which were epic. They even put out marshmallows, hot chocolate and sticks to roast marshmallows by the fire. Tea and coffee available and biscuits all the time. Just across from station park with the wanaka tree.
