Waikanae Beach — Attraction in Wellington

This is a fantastic length of beach and so long that on any given day would never be crowded. From all accounts it is a safe beach to swim but would be safest where there are surf life saving facilities and more people. Fantastic beach to walk in both directions with quite a bit of driftwood with excellent pieces to find for home and garden. Not sure about the fishing but with the channel between the beach and Kapiti Island, I'm sure there would be plenty of fish...

The best beach on the planet! Sure there's prettier beaches with softer sands & warmer waters, palm trees even, but for sheer scale, spectacle and, dare I say it, connection to God you can't beat this place, especially at low tide with breakers breaking & the sun sunning. Love it....
