Hey Coastie — Restaurant in Wellington

Worst service on the coast! Ordered a kids cheeseburger meal, a bowl of chips and a couple of drinks. Friends did the same order about 1 min after us on same table. The whole tables drinks came out pretty quick, but took a very long time for 1 cheeseburger meal and bowl of chips to come out. About 15min after the first set of food was delivered, I asked what was happening with the rest of the order. No one came back to tell us, I had to follow up several time with different people including the manager. Was eventually told their was a system issue and the order wasn't put though even though the drinks seemed to have been ordered! Finally got the rest of our food over 1hr after ordering, but the bowl of chips had to then go back to the kitchen as it had cheese on them when asked for no diary. Was told the replacement would be "rushed" but had to wait another 15min to get the new chips without cheese!

I did get $10 refund to which I am thankful for and they did apologise. However the service needs a big improvement. Duty Manager for example was far more interested in filling up doggie water bowls, scooping rocks into jars and prepping for a kids birthday party than she was trying to make sure her customers were happy. And there were a few groups there today when we were saying it was poor service and they did have what seemed like quite a few staff on so Im not putting it down to lack of staff.

Great play area out the back for the kids, but as we are spoilt for choice here on the cost, we definately wont be going back unless their service changes. COFFEE AND CABINET FOOD

Please, please, read your reviews and get your staff problems and systems sorted before it’s too late. Obviously some people have had a great experience at your establishment but there are too many like us who haven’t. We were looking forward to trying out Coastie and called in for coffee and cabinet food about 12.30 today. Place was quite busy but not totally full. After we got shown to a table we waited for about 10 minutes before a waitress came back for our order. 2 x coffee and 2x carrot cake from the cabinet. After a wait of another 35 minutes we finally got the coffees (lukewarm) and we reminded the person who had delivered them that we had food to come, which he said were doughnuts and we corrected him at the time. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway as we never saw them. After having allowed ourselves an hour to have coffee we could not wait any longer because of an appointment. Went to the counter and just paid for the coffees we had. The person serving us gave an off hand apology, and missed an opportunity to suggest we might still like to purchase the cakes as a takeaway. Originally, we had intended to arrange with friends to go to Coastie for dinner or lunch but we are now very wary of doing this. Such a shame, it has good prospects and a good layout etc. Let’s hope some improvements are made before it’s too late. Consistency of GOOD service...

Tried Hey Coastie and won’t be back again.

Service 2/10 Food 3/10

There wasn’t much staff to be seen out back. Had to wait a while before anyone was interested in taking our orders. There wasn’t any cutlery etc on the table.

Ordered chilli eggs which comes with tomato, parmesan and chilli relish. What came out was eggs with what looked like bottle sweet chilli sauce.

Also ordered 2x Fry up that clearly says on the menu it comes with hash browns. No hash browns were present. Asked the waitress about the missing hash browns. Waitress dismissively says fry up doesn’t have hash browns. We had to go to the front to ask about the missing hash browns and finally got them 30mins after our meals first came to the table. Recommend staff have training so they understand what’s on the menu.

Also ordered Shakshuka eggs. Told no Shakshuka eggs. We weren’t bothered about it and ordered something else but they tried to charge us for it.
