We were really unimpressed with our experience at Long Beach. After a very long, hot walk from our home to the cafƩ (with friends from the UK and Sydney with us), we were treated really badly.
We were given a table at 12:45 but told that we couldn't be served food. After asking why, we were told that it was because we were a group of 8. So 4 of our group went to the Four Square for a cold drink and some food and went to the park to eat it.
After 50 mins, we were told we could order chips... so we ordered 2 bowls and got 3 drinks. This ended up costing an unreasonable amount.
Meanwhile, they served mains to the table of 3 people next to us (who arrived half an hour after us).
We had chosen to go to Long Beach because we knew they served food that would meet the dietary requirements of our group.
I hate to give negative reviews, but I know a lot of people who will also travel a long way to go to Long Beach and I want them to know that they potentially won't be allowed to order any food or eat there. Quite the opposite of hospitality.

Service was terrible, waiting 20 minutes before we were offered drinks, we ordered our meals at the same time. Meals did come out fast and were good. Not one member of staff returned while we were eating to check we were happy, or needed another drink. We had completed our meals and sat again for close to an hour, before a waitress returned, to offer a box for the leftovers. We were not offered another drink, coffee or dessert, which we would have gotten, so we decided it was time to go. While paying the bill, we were not asked if our meals were good or if everything was OK. I have always believed in supporting local, which we do but after tonight I don't think we will be returning in a hurry.

I can't remember ever having cause for complaint (except maybe once for getting a smaller piece of fish than my wife :). Today though was a different story. On what planet does a "dairy-free" drink have real cream on it? In addition to the slightly disparaging offer to re-make the drink, making my daughter feel like it was her fault for the "miscommunication" was not cool. What is there to miscommunicate about "dairy-free"? It's listed next to the drink as an option with no mention of cream. The server advised me that ALL dairy-free chai drinks are served with real cream, and you have to ask for them not to be served with cream. So either the server was trying to save a drink re-make, or that's not a "dairy-free" drink. Sort it out Long Beach. And while you're at it, please mention on the menu that the "spiced lamb" in the pita is a lamb burger. On the plus side, your garden today looked amazing and my wife...
