Fredrikstad Museum — Attraction in Fredrikstad

DO NOT MISS! This unassuming looking history museum is a complete winner! You start with a personal tour with a guide who seats you at a bar- a 'history bar' and present you with a menu. ( with extras in case you are hungry for more history!!!) The various topics ( famous people or events relating to this Renaissance town) are presented with an explanation from the guide and a multimedia presentation which is brilliant. It is both in Norwegian and English, and the screen has subtitles. After this you go upstairs to the museum proper and look at the exhibits many of which relate to the people already discussed. We visited Fredrikstad because my wife had ancestors from this city. There is a wonderfully preserved old town with many of the buildings from centuries past. Unfortunately we were not able to visit the museum to learn more because it apparently only open on weekends, at least in May when we visited. Museo molto suggestivo dedicato alla storia di Fredrikstad durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale (e in più, un secondo riguardante la storia più in generale del paesino). Il personale è gentile e il luogo è gestito molto bene. Ogni stanza riserva delle sorprese: dell'allestimento di un dormitorio alla realizzazione di un giornale della resistenza. Di mirabile realizzazione i contenuti audiovisivi presenti durante il percorso (dalle radio d'epoca che trasmettono notizie sulla guerra ai mini documentari). L'unica pecca, è la mancanza di una tradizione altrettanto esaustiva delle descrizioni degli oggetti esposti nelle varie stanze (i video sono sottotitolati in inglese e Norvegese e scannerizzando il QR code che verrà presentato all'ingresso si avrà un riassunto in inglese di alcune parti del percorso).
