I did this hike yesterday (27/05/2024)the view is truly amazing, I've never seen anything like it in my life, really really beautiful.
It took me 2 hours to climb up and 1.5 hours to come down. However, halfway through, I started feeling insecure, and it started to look more like climbing, with so many rocks and snow, than hiking because I think we went the wrong way (but we followed the blue dots… so I don’t know what happen). In our case, there was still quite a bit of snow, which made the path more dangerous. Eventually, we realized we weren't in the right place, for the view of segla, and we tried to go to the right spot following our instincts (and we were successful) (though I'm not sure if it was through the right path). Going down was really difficult because, as I mentioned, there was a lot of snow, and I think we were actually in danger... luckily, slowly and with a lot of caution, we managed to pass that part safely and then found the trail again to continue the descent.
I advise being really careful because Norwegians say it's an easy hike, and I understand that it might be for them. However, halfway through, for me, it became a difficult hike. The day before, I had done the hike in the Lyngen Alps to Blåvatnet Norja, and despite the path being full of stones and rocks, I consider that one easy. In my opinion this one is medium with good weather, and difficult with bad weather/snow
Oh and please, I also have a dog and I’ve seen so many reviews of people saying they took their dogs with them… I really don’t think it’s a secure place to...
Read moreVery Beautiful view from the top! It took me about 2h30 to get up there do not think it will be a short walk because there is a sign that says 2 km. It is very muddy and very slippery and just before I reached the top I had to do some climbing across the boulders, holding ond with my hands! And it's very windy at the summit, so don't go too close to the edge, lest you get blown over. In the high season I guess the parking right here is open, bit when I got there the parking lot was blocked and a sign directed me to the segla trailhead parking.... Which was closed too, due to school start! And there is nowhere else to park in that village! I decided on parking right in the curve at the trailhead starting point, the road is wide enough here. Hiking up there is totally worth it, because at the top you can take a photo in any direction and capture stunning views. The trail is always well visible although there are no way markings. About half an hour in to the hike you cross a stream, there are planks on the ground so you don't have to hike through the water, but the planks are extremely slippery in some spots,...
Read more16 May 2024: Parking arrangement was amazing in a bad way. First, there were many “No parking” signs visible, but no signs where to park actually. We parked in a place without any sign, but we were warned by the lady from a nearby house that we should go to the harbour to park (some 10 min walk from the trail head). The easypark app is preposterous, since you choose the time and you are charged automatically, without knowing the amount you pay beforehand. Found an empty space after harbour parking lot and immediately got warned that we would be fined about 6000 NOK, if the bus could not turn. We were also requested to warn the rest of the drivers, like we were some kind of a syndicate! Also the guy notified that they have a lot of tourists, but finally not us! We chose another trail nearby just after the second tunnel, leaving Hesten, free parking on the left. 3 trails start there, two easy and one moderate with nice views! A bit muddy this time, but...
