This is the aircraft collection of the Norwegian airforce. Here are aircrafts used by the Norwegian airforce or has had some connection wit them, and in addition several aircraft from the WW2, both enemy and allied that has been restored. They have a collection of some civillian aircrafts as well that has historic value. They have display of accompanying wepon load, if they have been able to find them. For example, latwly thay have been able tonrecover a 1tonn bomb stom a lake, that is a quite rare find, ptobably only 10examples existing today in the world.
There are a shop selling air related stuf and souvernires, and a little restaurant with coffee, wafels, hotdogs, drinks etc. Free parking. Very child friendly, and historian/old man...
Read moreI wasnt sure what the collection would be like, but I'm do glad I came to find out: from biplanes to an F16, a German Ju52 and He111, plenty of 60s/70s Norwegian aircraft, some WWII RAF (and a postwar BOAC), a Nike Hercules air defence system (ie missile and launcher, but also ancillary vehicles-radar, c2, etc.).
And the show stealer, a retired Hercules transport, plus a gentleman who spent 11,000hrs as a flight engineer onboard, who will take you into the cockpit, sit you in the pilot's seat, explain the dials and tell you a bit about the aircraft: utterly fascinating and made the experience unforgettable.

Read moreNicest people ever! We were disappointed to see that the museum was closed on a Thursday when we were going to be there and after emailing them they said they would be happy to open for us to stop by! It was much more extensive and interesting to me expected and I highly recommend a visit.
If you are coming from the airport you can take either of the buses 400 or 420 to the stop recommended on the museum website. From there, you go immediately over the pedestrian bridge and there is a small cut through path that takes you directly to the museum within 5 minutes from...
