No Frills and No Thrills!
Everything about this hotel is off the mark! The very reason why we booked here was proximity to the airport, and to have some quiet time during an overnight transit stop. Neither is the hotel near the airport(Had to spend more than $20 each to and from the airport for the taxi!) and not was it quiet - it was more of a circus of constantly checking in travellers that were crowding the lobby all the time! And the size of the room was incredibly small with ridiculous-sized beds. And the list of complaints goes on! Especially given the price we paid, an absolute waste of money! We might have as well taken the express train and stayed in the City centre.
LOCATION: 10-minute drive away from the airport. A shuttle bus or taxi is needed.
DINE + DRINK: The lobby bar is a cool place to chill out. But it was so crowded when we were there it was chaotic. But the outdoor tables are a great place to lounge with a drink and watch the flights land and take off constantly! The breakfast spread was surprisingly huge! Worth waking up for.
ROOM: We stayed in 269, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Random view of the greenery behind the hotel; SIZE: Super compact room with barely any space for 2 adults; AIR-CON: No Aircon in the room, and thanks to the slightly good weather we managed to get some sleep!; BED: Horrible beds that made it difficult to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: decent cosmetics by Radisson brand
FACILITIES: No Gym or POol. jUst a Sauna and Jacuzzi that is labelled as a ‘fitness’ option
SERVICE: Not the friendliest or warmest of staff, but the lady at the front office who checked us in was quite friendly. But that's where the warmth stopped. Everyone else seemed to be quite plastic and almost unwelcoming!
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in...
Read moreThere are many attributes to this hotel: the beds, the staff, the pillows, the breakfast buffet (no hot chocolate if one is not a coffee drinker, hot chocolate at dinner: $4.70). The Lobby Shop items are extremely expensive: a Fanta Orange in Lobby Shop: NOK 69 = $6.90 US for a bottle of soda!) Would you like some ketchup with those fries at dinner?: $3 ... for the ketchup! When the nearest grocery stores are nearly 3 miles away, they can charge whatever they want. The receptionist was embarrassed & apologetic for the outrageous price. Luckily I have lemonade packets and thankfully, the water is free...but there are no carafes OR glasses in the rooms, as promised on the sign in the lift. (see photo). Then, when one goes to breakfast there is a sign asking guests to wait to be seated. (see photo). I waited. None of the wait staff looked up, because for breakfast, the sign is irrelevant, yet there it was in plain sight. Explanation given: They only have 2 signs: one for dinner (the one on display) and one that says closed. Management isn't trying very hard are they? If one is in a distant room and wishes to contact the front desk, good luck, if there is no information card in the room, then there is no clue as to how to reach reception. I walked the 3 minutes one way to get to reception to get a 3 digit code. However the receptionist said one might be lucky to have a phone that works. The receptionist said only some of the rooms MIGHT happen to have that info card with the phone info, due to "changes by management". I appreciated the receptionists' honesty. I've been to Oslo several times and just planned to stay near the airport for 2 nights to rest between 2 tours. Radisson will have to do better before I...
Read moreHow can i state how bad this is???. I will jusr list in order. Check in that takes more than 2 hours and then told they have no rooms. I am tired with a toddler in tow so I say "fine just book me in your overflow" That too was a problem. She looked at me as if I had done something wrong by booking a stay. I said "I paid in full for a room in advance what are you going to do???" In the interim I had a hungry Toddler to feed. Restaurant waitress was very nice. However a pre-made prepackaged Lasagna for $50 took 30 minutes and was microwaved into a hard brick. I ate that brick because I was traveling all day and hungry. The toddler had a good meal so I was spared that pain. Now back to check in....no rooms and BTW "we don't accept American Express in our Restaurant or for check in"--WTH!! I will spare the rest. Finally she says I have a room for you. Great I can sleep toddler can sleep. Get to room. No working TV No air condtioning Layer of dust in room No working refrigerator or anything in said refrigerator which they wanted to charge me a deposit for. It has a bed and hot water so I shower and go to sleep. Wake up sweating from heat so I have time to write this review. Radisson you need a team on the ground to fix all the problems here!!! If there was a way to get my money back I would truly fight for it because this was a horrible experience and was a failure of so many systems in one hotel that it can't be a glitch this is an...
