Be prepared for a challenging hike. We lost the trail on the way down to the beach, if there is one. They are working on stone steps leading up from the beach which will make it easier when complete. High risk of breaking an ankle or worse on slippery moss covered boulder field on the way down. Moss hides big holes. Two trails out. The one through the crevasse was relatively easy to follow. Still challenging to keep good footing especially in rain. This path takes you to a roadside trailhead, a 45min walk on the road from the inland trailhead Google had us park at. Absolutely beautiful views, but if you are not strong, and steady on your feet wait for the...

A stunning beach located just a mountain away from Haukland Beach. It’s less crowded, as tourist buses aren’t able to access the area. You can reach it by car through a tunnel from Haukland.

For those on foot or bike, there’s a scenic route around the mountains Mannen and Veggen that leads to the beach.

Parking is paid, even for short stays. At the start of the road leading to the beach, just after the tunnel, you’ll find a sign with instructions on how to pay and park. Overnight parking is allowed, and camping is permitted.

Facilities include recycling and garbage disposal, fresh water,...

Car park was relatively spacious, and paying at the exit was easy. The car park had some basic facilities e.g a sink and toilets but no showers. The beach was beautiful, shaped by mountains either side, and boulders along the sea front, with picnic benches to enjoy the view. It has to be said that I think Haukland beach around the headland is the ‘prettier’ beach but Uttakleiv felt like it had more character and grit to it. It also had a very large population of sheep who were not shy and really added to the charm...

White sand beach, rocky outcrop, green green grass and local sheep, what more do you want - of course the stunning mountains rising out of the sea. Absolutely stunning and I would say better than Haukland beach. We came by bikes through the 900m tunnel (not a problem) and returned by the coastal track, which was in good condition for bikes.
