Here is our town museum. Although it is small by museum standards, the presence of this place is important to understanding the history of the town. Very fitting that it is situated on the very first official street.
The three small showrooms are divided into four periods. First is the prehistoric period which is evident by rock petroglyphs, stone tools and ceramics. Second is the Hispanic period from 1515-1821 which features Spaniard influence. The third period entails joining the Colombian Union from 1821-1903. And fourth is the republican period which we currently reside in.
I have to stress that the museum sits on the very first official street. This exact location used to be the mayor's office decades ago. A look at the adjoining streets will reveal the contemporary method of urban planning from that era as evident by narrow streets, lack of adequate parking space in front of the businesses, and Feuillet park which has always served as the busiest transportation hub on the main street.
The area is full of cars and teaming with economic activity. If you are a tourist, exploring is a must. Just two blocks away is the most famous seller of chicheme, a corn-based drink that originates from our town.
