"Ang Pinagsimulan ng Death March" / The Beginning of Death March. The bayonet and a soldier's helmet is the most saddest and most respectful way of honoring and symbolizing a fallen soldier's sacrifice for his country. 70,000 Filipino and American soldiers became prisoners of war during the World War 2 and was forced to walk for hundreds of kilometers without food, water or rest from Bataan to Pangasinan. I'm just glad that the sacrifices our ancestors made during the Philippine-Japanese war were commemorated. This is a great example of that. The whole of it is very informational and the fact that there is an embedded historical trivia is very enticing for Philippine History buffs. But imagining how our soldiers must have suffered and died for it makes me sad and proud. They did everything they could to protect our country, and they could not be more heroic than...

When visiting Bataan, stopping at one of the markers (or all) is paying respect to all the brave soldiers we shouldn't forget. This marker is very important in the history of the Philippines, the starting point of a forced transfer of American and Filipino POWs during WW2. Thousands of filipino soldiers and american soldiers died during this long march. A reminder of one historical time...
