The Chocolate Hills of Carmen, Bohol, Philippines, as we all know from elementary school , is considered as one of the world's seven (7) wonders, however lately, according to Wikipedia, it was moved to 8th place paving the way for Puerto Princesa. However, be it 7th or 8th, it doesn't matter to me because chocolate hills, a reel, real amazingly created by HASHEM. Eveytine I am in Bohol, and given the chance to roam around the province, Chocolate Hills is always the first itinerary , it isn't my first visit, I have visited this place so many times but I am never fed up because this place really captivated my ♥ heart. If you want to have a 360degrees view of all the hills, you have to climb through the stairs as they developed the highest hill I guess. Just some tips, especially if you are beauty or skin conscious, it is wise to bring ☔ umbrella, cap, hat, shawl or anything that could shield you from the scorching heat of the ☀ sun, it's really soooo 🔥 Hot if it's a sunny day. But when you're up there, you will forget how hot it is, you will really say, "soooo wow " because up there you will see the unique geographical formation of perfectly coned- shape hills where accordingly comprises of 1,260 hills listed. The hills are covered in green grass which turns brown during the hot season, hence the name chocolate. The Chocolate Hills of Bohol are one of those natural wonders that seem straight out of a fairy tale. It's no coincidence that they have been declared the third national geological monument in the Philippines and are even being considered for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Their uniqueness lies not in the height of their mounds, which range between 30 and 90 meters, but in the immensity of the landscape they form. Covering approximately 50 square kilometers, these hills dominate the view from towns like Batuan, Sagbayan, Bilar, and Carmen, creating a rolling horizon that changes color with the seasons.

The origin of these formations remains a mystery that science is trying to unravel. They are believed to be the result of millions of years of erosion and weathering of marine limestone, sculpted by the action of water at a time when rivers and streams covered the region. Although there are similar karst structures in the Philippines, such as Siquijor and Cebu, and in Java, Indonesia, the magnitude and uniformity of the Chocolate Hills make them unique in the world.

Beyond geology, local mythology offers a more poetic version of their origin: the story of a giant who, devastated by an impossible love, wept inconsolably until his tears turned into these hills. Whether from a scientific or a legendary perspective, this landscape continues to fascinate those lucky enough...

This place got the process down to the T. I wish all tourist destinations were efficiently run as this place. Here is the low down: Use Google maps for Chocolate Hills View Point, then follow the directions. Go to the parking lot off the main road (look for lots of cars and a security guard sitting by the entrance/exit sign). Once in the parking lot, go towards the building in your mode of transport and buy a ticket for 100 pesos per person. The attendant will give you several papers stapled together. If you drive there (car or motorcycle), then this is where you'll park and get on a shuttle to the view point. If you hired a private transport, then off you go towards the view point, where another staff member will be at the entrance of the hill checking to see if you have the necessary tickets. Once at the top, you will be dropped off to enjoy the Chocolate Hills. This is also where your entrance ticket will be taken by a staff member. The restroom is right by the stairs. When you are ready to go back down to the main road, go to the building in the middle of the drop off area and give the staff the other paper showing your driver's license plate number where they will notify the driver. If you ride on a shuttle, then they'll put you in the next shuttle available (a number will be assigned).
