At first, I thought this isn’t a “restaurant” like what Google maps show - this is a carenderia. Most food places in the province may not look instagrammable in terms of aesthetics, but because I grew up in Manila, I am very keen to experience provincial things including food so I don’t just base on aesthetics -especially that I also love to cook (and eat haha!)
I asked what’s their best seller and they said it’s their sisig and native chicken. My bf ordered chicken adobo and I ordered chicken curry. We ordered fruit juices too! Bf got pineapple, I had mango. I noticed it’s taking some time til the food was served but it’s also good that means they’re not just heating food. My eyes popped when I saw that they were getting the fruits that were sitting on the glass food shelf that I thought were for sale. I got excited because we were gonna be served with the real thing - not just powder or from can!!!! The juices were served right after and WOWWW, it was so so sooo good! We know mango so well in PH since it’s our national fruit but the way they made it was perfect! To add, it was for a cheap price! In the big cities we pay for a price of juices that’s not even worth it! I couldn’t be more excited to try their food!
Then came our food. The curry was soooooo so so good too!!! I couldn’t be more happier! The flavors weren’t very strong like the usual curry. It was just right! It wasn’t soupy but with a savory sauce. The chicken was also tender!
We exchanged stories with the family that runs the place since they were also having their lunch together. They were all kind and very hospitable.
I definitely recommend this place. In my opinion, this restaurant is very underrated.

Read moreFor 2 people, they charged us 1,080 pesos… at a Karinderya eatery this is unheard of. (Karinderya eateries are the places on the side of the road with multiple trays of pre cooked food which are usually 30-70 pesos per dish)
We got 3-4 small dishes each. Usually the bill at these carinderia/karinderya places comes to 240 pesos for 2 people for the same amount of food.
So we think they overcharged us x4, quadrupling our bill to over 1,000 pesos.
We spoke to our hotel and they were so surprised and advised us not to go back.
Either this restaurant have quadrupled their prices because they are near the chocolate hills, or they saw that we are Westerners and decided to charge us x4 of the usual amount.
Either way, we are still upset about it and have found countless carenderias along the same road since which have charged normal prices..

Read moreLittle local place by the road, there was no chef that day, so no menu, only already prepared dishes. That was ok for us, it looked good and cheap but when the bill came it was nothing but cheap. 1200 for 3 people and 2 dishes per person is what I would have expected to pay in a great restaurant.. very disappointed in the owner who obviously made up prices based on our white faces. Nothing wrong with wanting to make money off tourism but...
