What a little gem we stumbled upon!
A small museum divided into two sections both of which are very interesting! It’s definitely worth a quick look to understand more about the history and culture of the local people!
The first section gives an overview of the reconstruction and refurbishment of Loay Church following the devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake in 2013. It includes a very interesting video about the work they did to reconstruct the church as accurately and authentically as possible as well as material samples and the original paintings of the Four Evangelists from the Loay Church.
The second section of the museum is all about the history of Bohol. The museum gives a brief but very good overview of the history from before the Spanish Colonisation up until the last few years.
Both museums are accompanied by an extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide called Perlina. She was involved in the reconstruction and has so much information to share about the church, the history of Bohol and the surrounding areas. Her expertise and passion was a real highlight of...
