Our experience walking the trail from Ayala Heights to Mt. Kang-Irag was quite manageable. we didn't encounter much difficulty since the trail is ot so steep. we hailed taxi from the city to Ayala Heights and we paid Php700.00. And we rode motorcycle going back and we paid Php 250.00 for each motorcycle with only one passenger.
The camping area is clean when we arrived, however, when we woke up, many garbage were seen everywhere because the campers didnt care to throw their own garbage in the garbage sacks and there were 3 or 4 dogs roaming arround and scattering the trash. As campers and responsible travellers, we should be responsible of our own trash.
The staff are courteous and thankfully there are comfort rooms and water in the area.
The entrance fee is Php70.00 and we paid Php150.00 for the kids who guided us going to the camp site (they asked for 200 but we haggled until we agreed at the price of 150) but you can actually hike without guide but make sure that you hike duting daytime or there is still light especially if it's your first time to go there. but because there were a lot of junction roads, thus we decided to get ourselves a guide to avoid being lost.
We started travelling at 3:45pm from the city and arrived at Ayala Heights at 4:50 pm via taxi. we started our trail at 5:00pm and arrived at the camp site at 5:20pm so more or less we just hiked for 20mins. We made it this short because the kids who guided us traversed the short path, becuase as we went home the next day without the guide, we just followed the path but it was different path from the other day and i think what we traversed without the guide was a longer path and it was actually the path for motorcycles. by the way, bicycles and motorcycles are allowed and able to get in the camping site.
Overall experience was great and the trail is beginner and children friendly. you can bring along your whole family. make sure to bring enough fluids and food to hydrate and sustain your energy all throughout the camping experience. though theres a store their where in you can buy your basic needs.
So, what are you waiting for, it's your sign to hike Mt....

However, the reason for the 1-star review is for the experience while camping.
I understand that we cannot control the actions of other people who also are camping but there is still such a thing called moderation. We setup our camp near a tree in the north side of the camp at around 8am. We stayed there for the whole day until around 5pm a group of kids set up their hammocks on the tree without at least informing us all the while blasting loud music. I also understand that we don't have any rights to "reserve" a place for our use but the way these kids set up was very rude especially since we still had some of our things set up in the tree. In response to this we just moved our camp to a different location albeit near to our original one. Our experience went well until into the night at around 9pm that our group was about to sleep in which that same group of kids (they also have new companions) were still blasting music and laughing/talking loudly and another 2 groups near us were also blasting loud music which were overlapping each other. This led to me not being able to sleep and led me to wait for 11:30pm for the curfew time where I hoped for the loud music to stop by then. Unfortunately, the loud music/talking continued until 12am. Again, I understand the concept in which people are free to do what they want but these kids should also try to learn consideration for other people. This whole experience really ruined the whole experience which was an otherwise refreshing and nice camping/hiking trip. For others, beware. While this campsite is nice, be prepared for a similar experience if you do camp here.
TLDR; campsite was nice but ruined by kids who rudely took our spot and blasted loud music until 12am. Expect to get the same experience if you camp here. You can try to camp during weekdays and school days to reduce...
Read moreA great beginner's campsite! It offers a spectacular view and has a store which serves drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic, snacks, simple meals (Pancit Canton, Canned goods and eggs), ingredients for camp cooking and others. You can also rent yourself a portable stove.
You can rent cottages overlooking the city and has a simple toilets for men and women where you have to pay P5 pesos for water via a coin-operated pump.
The area is clean and wide enough for a dozen or so tents.
The trek was simple enough to reach to the site but beginners may be lost as there were no signs. The trail leading up to the site may be muddy, slippery and animals like cattle and dogs may block your way.
The site itself was beautiful and misty but theres a dog problem where they may beg for food, steal food and trash, piss and even sleep by your tent. These dogs are not owned by the mamagement and are strays. They playfight often and some are mangy. If youre cynophobic, this is not a campsite for you.
They also have flies and other bugs buzzing around the place, but thats par for the course in camping.
Just remember to clean up and throw your trash in the barrel behind the store as the dogs may rip up your trash and litter it...
