In Philippine culture, it is a taboo to say something negative about the church especially that we are a religious country. I still have faith but with it comes to this church, my hometown, the people that is working in here, disappoints me and the experience is different from back then. First, for my sister’s death anniversary, we asked to have an exclusive mass for her. We paid for the service, i didn’t expect anything because its the church it is normal to be holy.Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the priest, I was alone in the front row cos my mom and our colleague went to the bathroom and it was time to start. The priest, without any restriction, ask the “sacristan” is it just her? with an attitude..i mean, regardless of how many will attend, do the priest need to question it vocally in a loud voice, when they actually ask to be paid for it😞 it is sad (i dont want to be sound so mean, but the church is asking for the service, i thought of it as donation, but also it sad that they dont reserve their opinions silently but bluntly say things to normal people like us) After the mass, despite how it started. When he pass by in front of me, i said thank you and the priest was a snob, just looked at me and went in front of the saints and did his vlogging.. Another concern, when I asked around they are still using pitcher and balde for christening and people complaint cos the area is too hot, no proper ventilation. With that, I arrange my son’s christening in cebu. First, I ask someone to go and ask for the Permit to allow our baby to baptized to another church, he came back without the permit cos i need the baby’s information(see picturr attach). Second, I send someone again with the info that was asked, then they asked for the baby’s birth certificate. Why not inform us the first time on the requirements needed. It is unfortunate, that I always see church as sacred and holy, always respected it. But the people in the church doesnt respect the people’s time. I am heart broken to see that there is only little improvement of the church and the people working in the church that we expect to be above us all, is acting...
Read moreI feel blessed to have attended the Pontifical Mass led by Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Most Rev. Emilio Bataclan on September 15, 2024, in celebration of the Feast of Santo Tomas de Villanueva. As one of the oldest churches in Cebu, this historical site is a beautiful reminder of our rich heritage and faith.
The church was packed with people honoring the feast, and it was deeply moving to partake in the veneration of the relics of Sto. Tomas de Villanueva after the Mass. It's a wide, clean parking area and well-organized.
I was also impressed by the clear sound system, making the entire experience feel both spiritual and intimate. Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Church in Danao City is a must-visit for anyone looking to connect with Cebu's history and deepen...
