An underrated tourist spot. The marine life is just magnificent. Lots of different species of fish. The coolest thing about this place is that the coral reefs and the fishes can be seen just a few meters from the shore. No need to go any further. This place needs maintenance and care in order not to destroy the marine life.

Great Reef only 5 Meters from the shore with so many Fishes: Clownfish, Parrotfish, and so on. There are also Chairs, Tables and Cabanas for rent. In earlier years it was peaceful. Now it is really crowded on Weekends, so better come at Weekdays. Also a bit sad is, that some Philipinos step on the Corals and destroy them.

Amazing corals and sooo many different types of fish! The staff at the dive shop are super friendly and helpful. The beach is clean and almost empty. We rented snorkels and spent over an hour in the corals. Great experience!

Good snorkeling near Dumaguete Marine Sanctuary in Dauin, is about 15-30 minutes travel from Dumaguete City. For those taking the public transport, you can find jeepneys to Dauin at the bell tower in Dumaguete City or near the Robinson's Mall. Fare is PHP 13.00. Inform the driver you are getting off at the corner leading to the Marine Sanctuary. It’s a couple of blocks away or a good 4-5 minutes brisk walk. The entrance fee for the sanctuary is PHP 150 with a table included. Without table it will be less. The beach with its brown sand may not look like much but wait until you get in to the water. The Marine Sanctuary starts a few meters from the shore and remains fairly shallow for about 20-50 meters before it slopes down into the deep. It's best to start snorkeling in the mid-morning until lunch, as the water gets shallower towards the afternoon. It said you can expect to see parrot fish, clown fish, anemone fish, neon damsels, hump-head banner fish, some baby black tip sharks, boulder coral, giant lobe and whorl bowl corals at the center. I myself saw most of the fish mentioned and also spotted a muraena. I didn't see any black tip sharks though. The conclusion is that the Marine Sanctuary is definitely worth a visit either for snorkeling or...

I’ve been coming to Dauin for several years and the reefs in the sanctuary are miraculous still very healthy but under constant pressure from people especially every weekend a thousand locals come and trash the beaches. It’s disgusting how bad it gets and with a strong rain storm plastic and trash just wash up on the beach. They charge 50 pesos to snorkel and dive in the sanctuary and I’ve NEVER seen anyone cleaning the garbage. No waste bins it just gets tossed into piles are burlap bags and occasionally taken away. Yesterday I went to snorkel and I was heart broken to see how much trash was in the water and beach. I politely asked a lady that worked for the sanctuary if someone was going to clean it she yea yea yead me away while she was too busy counting money and eating. They were all just sitting around laughing while tons trash were literally feet away from them. Shame on you who manage this. Get your act together the reefs worldwide are under attack you need to...
