I should have heeded the numerous negative reviews I had encountered online. These reviews accurately reflected my own experience, serving as a cautionary tale for future visitors. The entire experience left a bitter taste, a stark contrast to the idyllic escape I had envisioned. Mt. Kalugong, in its current state, is not worth the entrance fee, and I strongly advise potential visitors to reconsider their plans until significant improvements are made.
When they were asked why the entrance fee seemed too much, they just told us that it was priced like that so they would get back their investment? I think that's a completely inadequate and unprofessional response. It fails to acknowledge the customer's perspective and doesn't offer any justification beyond a simple, self-serving explanation. A better approach would focus on the value proposition – what visitors are getting for their money – and perhaps offer some options for more affordable access, like discounts or family packages. The current response makes it sound like the park's only concern is recouping its initial investment, rather than providing a positive experience for its visitors. You can still recover your investments without the high entrance fee that alienates potential visitors. A more customer-centric approach might involve explaining how the fee contributes to maintaining the park's beauty and upkeep, highlighting unique features or experiences not found elsewhere, or offering alternative pricing models like seasonal passes or group discounts. There's not even a discount for kids, students, and seniors? Focusing on the cost rather than the overall value and experience would likely lead to greater customer dissatisfaction.
Overall, the management needs to address the issues of customer service, and the quality of attractions. Adding insult to injury was the issue surrounding the secondary exit point. I had understood this exit to be publicly accessible, separate from the mountain's main attractions, as it was supposedly acquired for public use. Ignoring our questions about the closed road, the staff rudely insisted it was private property, citing CCTV footage as proof we had to pay, and they even claimed that they'd be in trouble with their bosses if they...
Read moreGreat short visit to Mt. Kalugong. A great way to spend an afternoon instead of going to John Hay or SM, it's great to support local destinations.
The rock formations are for the adventure seeking hikers as clearly this area is yet to be explored and mapped properly. But even for non hikers, it's a place to visit and discover.
It's a very steep road to get there and it's only one way for vehicles. Better to walk up than drive, specially for non Baguio/mountain drivers. If you decide to bring a vehicle, make sure it's a four wheel drive and honk on every corner.
Walking up will be about 30 minutes from the main road and then another 20 minute hike up to the cafe. To explore the area give or take 45 minutes. There's a registration before getting in, we paid Php for 6 adults and 3 kids. The local cafe called "Kalesa Jen E Mainom" has great coffee options and the cakes are homemade and delicious! The coffee space is inviting and they have boardgames. Definitely better than Starbucks.
My mom and 80+ y/o aunt managed the 20 minute hike and my 3 y/o niece was not afraid of the heights.
The best way to describe Mt. Kalugong is a maze of rocks that its difficult to figure where to hop in or walk in thru the formations but it's worth it to see the sights! The fog made it...
Read moreThis place gives you a fresh state of mind and the view is amazing, this is a good mountain to climb for starters because in less than 30 mins, you will be able to climb the top and enjoy the view overlooking Benguet. The parking was not a problem since of the pandemic, there are not much tourist visiting so the place isn't too crowded. There is a picnic area to enjoy with your friends and family, bring food and enjoy their company. If you go around the trail from the picnic area, you will see a small coffee shop at the top where you can enjoy the scenery and coffee of Benguet. You have to come prepared to this place because the hike at one area is very rocky and you have to wear your hiking gear for extra safety. I did the mistake of not doing a bit stretching at first so I had knee injury. There is also an entrance fee that you need to pay upon entering and make sure that you have mask and face shield so you can get in. Bring plenty of water with you to rehydrate your body from all the walking and climbing. Once you reach the edge of the mountain, the view of the huge rock formation is also one of the famous spots for pictures that most...
