This review is based on my own opinion and experience upon arrival at the Matabungkay Beach so please exuse me for any comments you may find not so good.
on the way to the beach, lots of resorts and the road are a bit dangerous so be cautious and when you reach some of the resorts you need to drive at least 30 minutes to reach the closest wet market. They do have some small stores around the area but the prices are really expensive. Mobile Network Coverage are very limited and if you are lucky, you might be on a location that does not have any signal at all.
checking on the resorts, most of the resorts didnt offer any wifi connection as it is limited from the connections but if you are lucky maybe you can find one that offers wifi. They have private pools to enjoy indoor swimming and they have kiddie pool or adult pools to enjoy. When you make a reservation on the resorts at the area ask all questions you have, some of caretakers in the resorts dont disclose all information unless you ask them (ex. kitchen use is separate charge aside from the accommodation charges). Anticipate other people on the resorts as it is per reservation. Most of the resorts ar air conditioned but check with the care takers or owners.
The beach, maybe we got on the wrong side of the beach but during the afternoon its low tide and you could enjoy a light walk going to the deeper part of the seashore. You can rent a a boat like accommodation to take you in the deep waters and enjoy your stay with free diving. Be mindful of the dangers when you do free diving especially with jellyfish that are also present at some part of this beach. Dont expect a very clean and a beach-like feeling when you reach this place so you can enjoy what you came for.
Hope this helps and always remember to enjoy your adventure...
Read moreHad the pleasure to take a quick dip in these floating cottages, there were a few road closures and we had to back up a few meters on our way to the beach because of that. But speaking of the cottages, we got a deal for 1500 to rent the whole cottage for a day.
The guy who guided us asked for an extra 300 pesos for a personal lifeguard. Now, I don't exactly know what that means but I thought we'd be accompanied by a lifeguard there to lookout in case anything happens (we had two kids, so I thought that's what it was for). Anyways, no lifeguard. We also ordered to have some foods delivered to us unfortunately, we have one missing order, so I highly suggest you bring your own foods since we couldn't trace back where that food came from to complain.
Anyways, beach is great, nice ocean views but I could only imagine the place when it'd packed, I think it'll be very crowded during weekends. Sand is also fine, some kelps in the deeper areas and not very Rocky at all! It's just a bit dirty from all the trash left behind by...
Read moreSomething to look forward to in the life around the bustling beach. Not as famous as Puerto Galera but still amazing seeing all walks of life. The fisher men , boating tours and daily life of people around it. Some also offer bikes or banana boat to jet sky and not to mention snorkeling with feeding the fishes for the young and old alike.
Try the island hopping , boat riding along the waves or just enjoy the magnificent view of the west side of the Philippines not to mention that golden sunset when you find the right timing.
From local guest house with very hospitable accomodations, budget friendly resorts for you to enjoy and some high end hotels to celebrate those special occasions. Most of all what it offers over other beaches is the relaxing quiet atmosphere.
Feel free to explore more hidden beach spots or new guest house or resorts around also there are local shops around the streets for the...
