Adventure Review: This cave will surely satisfy your adventurer spirit. With the climbs, the quite challenging trek, and the breathtaking cave formations, you are surely in for a treat. The tour guides that were assigned to us were also very friendly and accommodating.
Safety Review: This is where things started going bad, which brought my rating down to 2 stars. For the price paid for the tour, as well as the price paid for the permits, one would expect that there would be first-aiders present on-site or that there would be a health screening prior to the climb that could possibly be a health risk to people with certain medical conditions. But sadly, there's none. I also could not help but feel that the guides were not trained enough when it comes to safety. I also could not understand the logic behind the preference of the admin of using slippers over rubber shoes. Rubber shoes have greater traction than that of slippers so it would only make more sense if rubber shoes were required especially in a slippery place like Sumaguing Cave. Unfortunately, that's not the case. It would be nice if the people managing the place would put everyone's safety as the...
Read moreThis is the the thing you need to do if you decide to go to Sagada!!! It has everything you're going to want when it comes to an adventure. You're literally entering a cave with channels of water inside it, its beautiful.
Now, getting inside is no easy task, if your knees, ankles, or back are iffy, I would suggest not going. It will really test the integrity of your lower body. It is VERY slippery at the start, but once the guide tells you to remove your slippers, the rocks you'll be stepping on have so much traction, so you will be very good to go. The sights inside the cave are truly magnificent. Very much worth experiencing if your body can take it.
Make sure to bring extra clothes for you WILL absolutely get wet and dirty. You can swim inside the cave as well, so it really is something that is going to be very fun and tiring. There will be bat poop all over the rocks and you will need to touch it, and that's just something you're going to need to accept. There will be a smell, but then you will get used to it very quickly.
Overall an amazing experience and something I would recommend...
Read moreThe best way to describe the Sumaguing Cave experience, for me, was a more interactive version of the Puerto Princesa Underground Cave tour, but with a pinch of the Cebu Kawasan Falls adventure/physicality.
Similar to the Puerto Princesa cave tour, you go into cave full of bat poop & are introduced to several rock formations along the way. But unlike the Puerto Princesa one, you traverse the are on foot (even literally as they recommend to remove the footwear at a certain point), instead of just riding a boat. In a way, it's better & more interactive since you can pose for photos & really get your feet wet. That's where the Cebu Kawasan Falls similarities come in since you'll need to be a little more physically fit to go through it. You won't really have to jump around & dive into deep waters (maybe just the last "pool" area) but the trek still reminded me of Kawasan.
Local guides are very well-mannered, helpful & informative too.
Overall, a very satisfying fast-paced "work out" in contrast to my generally peaceful & chill...
