Puka Beach is a beautiful and serene beach on the northern tip of Boracay Island in Aklan, Philippines. It is named after the puka shells that used to cover its sand, which are now used to make jewelry and souvenirs. Puka Beach is about a kilometer long and has cream-colored sand that is not as fine as the white sand of the main beach. The water is clear and blue, but the waves can be strong and the beach has a steep incline, so swimming is not recommended. Puka Beach is ideal for relaxing, sunbathing, and enjoying the view of the Manila Bay. It is also a good spot to watch the sunrise and sunset, as well as to take photos of the natural scenery.
I went to Puka Beach for a day trip during my vacation in Boracay. I took an e-trike from the main road for 150 pesos and arrived at the entrance of the beach. There was a small fee of 20 pesos to enter the beach, which was used for its maintenance and cleanliness. I walked along the shore and admired the beauty of the place. The beach was not crowded and there were no vendors or establishments along it. It felt like I was in a different island, away from the hustle and bustle of Boracay.
I rented a beach chair and an umbrella for 250 pesos and settled down near the water. I enjoyed the breeze and the sound of the waves. I also ordered a fresh coconut from one of the stalls near the entrance. It was refreshing and sweet. I read a book and listened to some music on my phone. I felt relaxed and peaceful.
I decided to explore the beach a bit more and walked towards the end of it. I saw some rock formations and limestone cliffs that added to the charm of the place. I also saw some colorful fish and corals in the water. I took some pictures and selfies with my camera. I was amazed by how beautiful Puka Beach was.
I went back to my spot and waited for the sunset. It was one of the most stunning sunsets I have ever seen. The sky was painted with orange, pink, and purple hues. The sun slowly dipped into the horizon, creating a silhouette of the boats and islands in the distance. It was a magical moment.
I packed my things and headed back to the entrance. I thanked the staff for their service and took another e-trike back to my hotel. I had a wonderful time at Puka Beach. It was one of the highlights of my vacation in Boracay. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a different side of Boracay. Puka Beach is a must-visit place for nature lovers and beach...
Read moreThis was supposed to be a memorable moment for us because it's been 14 years since we came back here in Boracay, especially here in Puka beach. It was my FIRST TIME riding a crystal kayak and my experience was not good. The guide/who they called the photographer was very rude and a bully. I was telling him if he could bring the kayak into a more shallow area because I don't know how to get on it, but instead he started saying things like "Nan! Baka mabasag mo ha!" and it's not clearly in a nice way at all. I don't get it why he was so rude to me. While I can hear the other guides being nice to their customers, mine was busy being rude to me and he was scolding me while taking my picture. I was trying to understand his situation like, maybe he's tired or something, until he started body shaming me in Ilonggo. He thought I only speak Tagalog but I am an Ilonggo and I can fully understand him in Ilonggo. He was saying things like, "Ngaa tambok pa ya nagtupa sa akon man?" "Amo gid ni budlay kung tambok mo" and he was still uttering more but I couldn't hear him. I told him I can understand him in Ilonggo and that's when he started being nice to me.
I hope the management of the beach can do something about this. I don't get it why he was complaining about my weight when it is even allowed for three people to ride the kayak including the guide. Couples are even allowed to ride together with a guide, but he made me feel like it was so wrong for a plus-size like me to ride one. I hope they're aware that some of us are first timers in riding the kayak, and not used to the motion. The first stop of our tour was the Puka beach, it was the first stop and it already affected...
Read moreI was excited to soak in the beauty of this renowned destination. However, my experience was marred by the behavior of one foreigner within our group. The trouble began when one member of our group was late returning to the banka, causing delays and frustration for the rest of us. It was already resolved when the father said sorry, but this one foreigner just add up the tension. This incident set a negative tone for the day, and tensions were high as we embarked on our journey back from Puka Beach. On the way back, we encountered another group tour from a different banka, who seemed happy and excited, exchanging greetings with us. Unfortunately, our group was non-responsive and visibly sad, still affected by the earlier incident. It was disheartening to see our group's mood dampened by the actions of one person.Despite these setbacks, I must commend the overall experience at Puka Beach. The natural beauty of the beach and its surroundings were truly breathtaking, even if our time there was limited due to the delays. The pristine sands, crystal-clear waters, and tranquil atmosphere were unforgettable.Reflecting on this experience, I would suggest considering a private tour for future visits to Puka Beach. This would allow for more flexibility and control over the itinerary, minimizing the risk of disruptions and ensuring a more enjoyable experience for all...
