It has a great Jacuzzi with Warm Water overlooking the infinity pool surrounded by lush greenery. Very Rare if not Unique in Boracay! The gardens are tropical lush stretching over the long internal road. I did some jogging and no cars, just running between tropical trees.
The lobby is huge and native style similar to Shangri-lah style.
I enjoyed walking at morning and night the internal road until a small garden called Dinara, which was well taken care with turf to lay and get some sun (rare to find turf in boracay). Then walked down to a building called Apo. So peaceful immersed in the greenery, I felt like in the jungle with rocky walls.
At night the place had a romantic and peaceful vibe, with high tropical trees (foxtails, frangipani, etc.). I noticed CCTV.
It feels like another world , a place to relax. So we enjoyed the regular Boracay and something different :)
The pool was almost always empty, it feels like private - a big plus compared to other hotels we were which are super-crowded.
Our room in Illiniza overlooked the valley and had partial sea view.
The pool water was super-clean and deep blue, especially at noon, it is great for photos we took just blue/sky and bikini :) Sun umbrellas and chair, good wifi.
There is a regular aircon shuttle bus going from/to Dmall and e-trikes passing by the main road at the guard house. We paid 50 pesos/person from Jetty port to Altavista guard house (entrance) asked for a "shared trike".
Later the hotel staff offered us to bring by shuttle van to Dmall and there we took another trike to jetty port for Caticlan.
We felt safe, guards, cheerful filipino hotel staff; there was also massage services.
The room was basic, sober but fair for the price. Good value for money.... Clean bedsheets and clean room. It was a good choice for taking a break in nature, bit distance from the crowd but not spending the high rates of the nature of Shangri-lah...
The buildings are named after mountains; the style of them is like mountain houses, so the colors... staff explained us the name "Alta Vista" means "High View" in Spanish, cause of the location on the hill top, and the Philippines has a strong Spanish heritage.
My friends (couple) took the loft in Illiniza building and they had a great overlooking view and romantic additional bedroom upstairs all for them. It was like a flatroom. We got the studio but it felt a bit basic. No lift but it's ok for the price.
The staff told us that some units are for sale and can live in them as any residential condominium.
The lush tropical nature, highness and Jacuzzi are my...
Read morealta vista brings a big promise of leisure while in a welcomely secluded setting. it was unfortunate during our visit that both (a) the infinity pool, (b) the exclusive beach, (c) the restaurant, (d) game room, & many others were rendered unuseable by typhoon Ursula. i don't usually give negative reviews for concerns brought about by natural calamities. this negative review however is due to management's lack of transparency to inform our party the situation before we reach the hotel. it was disappointing to know of the situation after we have spent time, effort & money to travel to the island and to the hotel. it was doubly disappointing that the frontline staffs (front-desk & concierge) weren't engaging with us to build a solution to concerns, as if saying we can't do anything about it. you see, we reached the hotel around 9pm hoping to get dinner after settled. but since the hotel restaurant is damaged hence has no operation, we were asking for any possible alternative to get food including food-deliveries or going outside the secluded hotel. after a resigned aura from both frontdesk & concierge, my sons & i tried to head for the gate and discovered there was a gift shop with water, drinks & snacks. furthermore, the attendant engaged with us on our concern and offered a solution. she confirmed it isn't wise to ride the scheduled hotel shuttles because there's already a long queue to & fro the hotel and the last trip is fast approaching. instead she offered we can ask the driver to buy from jollibee in station 2 then brin the food to the hotel - we just have to give the money for the purchase. i'm not giving the poorest rating because of the positive experience with the gift shop personnel & the driver. also, they still offered reliable water, electricity for the aircon, and sleeping rooms anyway. but our feedback - on management's lack of transparency and on frontliners' non-engaging attitude - still stands...
additional comment after reading your reply: yes, we heard from the front desk that the manila office was already informed only on the 27th. Had management wanted to be transparent with their upcoming guests, I would have been informed either on the 27th or 28th or 29th. So my negative feedback still stands: management was not transparent enough to inform the upcoming guests "hey, you will not be getting what we promised you when you paid...
Read moreI booked a 2-night stay in a Loft room. When they brought us to our room (Keira 105), I immediately noticed that the room was different from what I booked, so I asked the bellman of Keira 105's room type. He said De Luxe. I called the Front Desk and the staff wasn’t even apologetic. She just said that the Loft room may not be available when we arrived thus they gave me a De Luxe room. I retorted that they could have at least told me; we would have been happy to wait (By the way, we checked in at 2 PM, their standard check-in time.) The staff wasn’t helpful and even refused to connect my call to the supervisor or manager as they were supposedly in a meeting. I kept insisting to talk to either and only then did the staff agreed to move me to a Loft room (HA 301).
The bellmen, Housekeeping, and restaurant staff were friendly, but the Front Office staff seriously need intensive training. Aside from the wrong room assignment, they forgot to have someone deliver our additional towels (this was nearing midnight when Housekeeping may be closed and the call was forwarded to Front Desk as all requests made directly with Housekeeping were promptly delivered). Our checkout experience was also disappointing. A staff (A) was initially on the phone when I arrived so I waited for her to finish. She didn't acknowledge my presence at all. Another staff (B) came but ignored me. Fine. She may be thinking I was already being assisted by Staff A. A bellman (C) arrived and A kept talking to him. Still fine. She may be giving him instructions from her phone convo. To my annoyance, some Chinese guests arrived and both staff A and B immediately accommodated them. Huh?!
Breakfast was chaotic. Too many Chinese guests and some refused to fall in line. Some of the dishes ran out and were not promptly replenished. And the food was limited and mostly canned (sardines, luncheon meat, sausages).
We had lunch here too and it was expensive for the long wait and substandard food (overcooked prawns, overpriced-for-the-taste pizza, and ribs).
While I loved the views especially during sunrise, the poor service definitely convinced me not to come back or...
