The guard we encountered was very rude and highly selective with the implemented rules. A small dog played inside the dog pen off-leash for over an hour (the smaller dog was alone at the time), and we patiently waited for it to finish. When it was our husky's turn, as he was alone, we removed his leash. However, this particular guard insisted that our dog should be leashed, claiming the rules only apply when they are present. He mentioned they only enforce the rules when they are present. Ironically, he was present when the smaller dog played off-leash. These rules seem to only target bigger dogs. The guard, in addition to being condescending, opened both gates while our dog was still unleashed. And to boot, he not only opened the gates, but he opened them the furthest they could be opened – they're literally wide open for our dog to pass through, potentially causing an incident. We were preparing to leave due to his rudeness, but what bothered me most was his irresponsibility. What if our dog got out when off-leash, leading to an incident? Can he cover the veterinary bills with his salary, or would it just be a casual apology? Fortunately, our dog is trained even when off-leash. I couldn't get his name, but he's tanned and has a medium-deep voice. This encounter was profoundly disappointing and disgusting. Why employ such a person? Despite claiming to be pet-friendly and providing a pen for pets, these rules seemingly apply only to larger dogs. Isn't containment the enclosure's purpose? Why leash a dog when he's alone? We've visited several times, and our dog was off-leash with other dogs (particularly with Golden retrievers, Labradors and the like) without issue. I can't stand the fact that the guard deliberately opened both gates, potentially causing an incident. Arcovia used to be a good place; now, I hate it. The male guard was incredibly annoying and disgusting. If something went wrong, can he cover the veterinary bill with his meager salary? Hell no.
To add: when other dogs seem to pose a threat to our dog's safety, we always put him on a leash to protect all parties involved. Our dog is very sociable and not aggressive. I won't come back here again. I'll just shop at other Landers and dine at other restaurant branches than go back here and meet that rude guard with no proper training. Very disappointed as we have been coming here since it was still relatively new and developing without much traction, and it had only a few restaurants compared to now that it has blown up. 😟😟...
