Blood Compact Site in Bohol stands as a memorial ground to the historic sign of friendship between the Spaniards and the Filipinos. The place is just a short tricycle or cab ride from the city of Tagbilaran since Barangay Bool is still a part of the city. Buses or vans are available from the Dao Terminal. Rides to and from the place does not pose a problem since the site is located along the Carlos P. Garcia circumferential road where many transportations are available.

Today, the Blood Compact Shrine serves as a memorabilia of the historical happening during the middle March of 1565 where a bound of friendship was established to create a fundamental unity. The Sandugo or Blood Compact Shrine monument is a landmark at the site of the first international treaty of friendship between Spaniards and Filipinos. Behind the monument is a magnificent view of Bohol Sea. The monument, with the bronze statues of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, Rajah Sikatuna and several other witnesses, was a masterpiece of the Boholano sculptor and National Artist for Sculpture,...

The Sandugo was a blood compact, performed in the island of Bohol in the Philippines, between the Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna the chieftain of Bohol on March 16, 1565, to seal their friendship as part of the tribal tradition. This is considered as the first treaty of friendship between the Spaniards and Filipinos. "Sandugo" is a Visayan word which means "one blood".[1] The Sandugo is depicted in both the provincial flag and the official seal of the government in Bohol.[2] It also features the image of the blood compact. The top of the seal explains the history behind the Sandugo event that occurred in Bohol, the fleet and the location where the Spaniards anchored and the place where the treaty was conducted which was dated on March 16, 1565

This is a historical piece of history that should not be forgotten. Quite sad seeing that monument were so small added to that is the colourful background which does not add up to the monument. I liked the old monument bare as it was before and the only background is the sky that meets the sea gives it a more dramatic scene. Not really okay seeing this historical monument allowed construction of a hotel with modern features. I think it would be okay if the hotel has been built in a classic Pinoy Pre-hispanic features like those of in Vigan and in Manila to jibe with the monument beside it. Liked: No Entrance Fee/Very Accessible/Open 24/7 Disliked: No Parking/Current Colorful Background
