Utterly tragic zoo. In a state of absolute disrepair. Overgrown gardens. Complete lack of maintenance and animal welfare is apparent. The animals looked very very neglected and sad. Totally inhumane way to keep animals let alone display them to the public. Many of the animal pens are way too small for the animals living in them. The authorities in charge of animal welfare really should close this place down immediately and re-home the animals to facilities who are better equipped to care for them. Absolute disgrace! Words cannot describe the condition some of these poor creatures are living in. The people in charge of this place should be facing court rather than selling tickets. This ZOO enchants with its expositions of local fauna, exhibiting various central European species which are close to extinct. Also wounded animals, mainly birds, find sanctuary here. The "local farm" part is very attractive mainly for kids. You can spend several hours strolling around and enjoying peace of nature. Aquarium/terrarium has a variety of exotic animals and tiger enclosure has a magnificent view from the top. Peacocks are often running free in the alleys, within a hand's reach.
