a very charming museum, but I have to admit that visiting it might not be the greatest experience for somebody who doesn't speak Polish (or is accompanied by a Polish speaking friend or a guide) or doesn't know a bit about the Polish literature/history of the early 20th century. all descriptions and signs are in Polish only. On the other hand it is a gem and something very unique: the house where the (in)famous wedding of Lucjan Rydel and Jadwiga Mikołajczyk took place in November 1900. The play based on this event, with characters based on the bride and groom, their families and friends and other guests is on the high school reading list in Poland (and has been on it since I recall) so visiting this place is quite an experience. The building is very well maintained and houses artefacts from the era, items that belonged to Lucjan Rydel's family: traditional clothes, beautiful furniture, lamps, pictures and lots of photographs, drawings and writings. Interestingly enough the house originally belonged to Tetmajer family (Włodzimierz and Anna Tetmajer) who were the hosts of the wedding, and years later it was purchased by Rydel family (so they ended up living in the house where their wedding party took place). it is really amazing to walk through the rooms following footsteps of many famous and well known characters. Again, if you don't speak Polish make sure that you have a Polish speaking guide/friend with you. getting there is a bit challenging too. take the public transit to Bronowice Nowe streetcar loop, and then walk through Zielony Most and Tetmajer streets. I really enjoyed my...
Read moreWorst Muzeum Krakowska. No explanation boards, really small exhibition, far away from public transport. They put little brochures in the rooms so people can read instead of boards, so why just not read it in your cozy house? And that brochure was only Polish. The outside view looks really good, but inside it's really short 5 minute view. I still don't know what this place is about. The staff didn't even care when I walked in, and the last time when I came here 30minutes before closing, they were already leaving so I had to come back. I regret that...
