A Magical Family Adventure at Light Land, Gubałówka
Our visit to Light Land at the top of Gubałówka was nothing short of magical—a winter dream come to life! From the moment we arrived at the lower station, beautifully adorned with festive lights, we felt a growing excitement. As the funicular climbed towards the summit, anticipation built with every second. And then—we stepped into a true wonderland.
The first sight of a million shimmering lights took our breath away. Everywhere we looked, the glow of beautifully crafted illuminations surrounded us—majestic deer, playful marmots, elegant foxes, and even the famous white bear from Krupówki. The highlander couple in their traditional costumes stood proudly among them, a stunning tribute to Podhale’s culture. The sparkling snow under the lights made everything look like a fairy tale unfolding before our eyes.
The highlight for us was the crocus field, a mesmerizing multimedia installation that felt like stepping into a glowing meadow of spring flowers in the heart of winter. The children were spellbound, running around in sheer joy, their laughter echoing through the crisp night air. We, the adults, couldn’t help but smile, taking in the beauty and warmth of the atmosphere.
Looking over the panoramic view of Zakopane, lit up against the snowy peaks, we felt a deep sense of awe. There was something truly special about standing there as a family, surrounded by the magic of lights, the chill of the mountain air, and the feeling that this moment would stay in our hearts forever.
Leaving Light Land was bittersweet—we didn’t want the night to end! But as we made our way back down, we knew one thing for sure: this was an unforgettable experience. If you ever get the chance to visit Gubałówka in winter, don’t miss this breathtaking spectacle. It’s pure magic...

At 1,129 meters above sea level, this beloved peak offers more than just a view—it offers a feeling. A hush. A moment suspended in time. The funicular ride itself felt like a passage into another world—glass-roofed, gliding upward as the rooftops of Zakopane fell away and the majestic Tatras rose to greet me. At the summit, wooden stalls brimmed with local crafts, the scent of oscypek and smoked meats danced in the air, and laughter echoed from cozy cafés tucked into the hillside. But it was the panorama that stole my breath: layers of misty peaks, golden light spilling over valleys, and the quiet awe of nature’s grandeur. Gubałówka isn’t just a destination—it’s a reminder to pause, to breathe, to feel. 📸 If you’ve ever been, you know. And if you haven’t—put it on your list. Your heart...
Read moreThe view from the top is breathtaking, but unfortunately the pictures don't do it justice, you have to see it! It's worth taking the cable car up, for those who haven't traveled like this before, it will also be an experience. Of course, there are bazaars, restaurants, and cafes up there, obviously a bit more expensive than down there, so be prepared for that. There's hardly anything written in English, that's true, but all the staff are helpful and kind, even if they don't speak English either. The view of the city and the surrounding mountains is amazing and makes up for any small mistakes. You can also bobsled up there, we really enjoyed that too, but don't expect a big bang! ;) We went up on a weekday, March 7th. At that time, there was no queue for the cable car at all, and there wasn't a huge crowd on the mountaintop. The snow had already melted by this time, but some of it was still visible only on the peaks of the...
