This institution is an unsung mecca for the nautical arts which all those with contact with the North Atlantic, especially east coasters and most especially Newfoundlanders and Labradorians should have on their must see list. Wow. The wooden boats - not models but the real thing - the large, live codfish aquarium, the seashells and the high mass for the cod are all without a maritime equal - to my knowledge - and then it's wrapped up in an architectural design that's certainly must be described as very clever....

Why is it so difficult for the Portuguese to translate things in English? Portugal received a lot of money from Europe, so they could show their gratitude to the countries from which the money came by increasing accessibility in their musea etc. (Teach the youth English so they have more opportunities... It is an interesting place. However, it is difficult to grasp for non portuguese speakers. We started the visit around 17 and the museum closed at 18 - during that hour there was a person telling us that we should hurry up. Maybe they should stop selling tickets around 16.30 if they consider 1h to not be enough time. The bacalhau aquarium was also not available, but we had a discount for that. Overall, an...
