The area surrounding the interpretative centre is one of local history of tapetes. Sight seeing the area gives information on how tapetes are made and how the industry began in Arraiolos. It is a place where you will definitely enjoy being around the locals and enjoying handwoven craftwork. No pictures of any store was taken to protect the designs of carpets, as you would have to go in to enjoy these because each store owner would give you the history and reasoning behind a new carpet or a carpet that is to be repaired and restored to its original state. Also some tapetes are displayed on the street as you would find on banners or posters. It is such a beautiful experience.
