Cabo Girao is an elevated viewing area set on the cliffside with a glass skywalk on one of the highest cliffs in Europe. Making for stunning vistas and breathtaking views of the ocean, cliffs, and coastal highways. At 2€ per person to enter, it is very affordable. Purchase tickets upon arrival. Check the weather before going, a clear day offers the best views. Arrive as early as possible, parking is free but limited, and the venue tends to become crowded quickly. It is an easy walk to the observation area. There is a gift shop and restaurant on site. We even saw a local cat hanging out. We love seeing cats wherever we go! We spent maybe 20 minutes here. It was absolutely worth the stop. It would be a great sunset viewing area. But don't fret if you can not make it here. Madeira is full of amazing viewpoints!

One off the highest cliffs on earth - this is how this place is advertised. To enter you will need to buy a ticket on one of the ticket machines on the left hand side. Kids under twelve are free. Everyone else must hold the code up to the reader, which will open the gate. As a small group you will still get one ticket for all visitors, so be sure to hand the ticket to the next person in your group once you have passed the gate. The platform is quite nice. There is a section where the floor is made of thick glass. To me it always feels a bit spooky to stand on it. On clear days it is a very nice spot to come to and spend maybe 15 minutes. Parking is a nightmare on most days - prepare to search and wait for a spot.

It is really awesome standing on this glass platform! 😀 The Cabo Girão cliff is one of the highest in the world and falls almost vertically 500 m deep into the Atlantic Ocean. A skywalk with a glass floor awaits you on the steep cliff, which protrudes over the edge of the rocks and offers you a breathtaking view 580 m into the depths. Enjoy the view of the sea and the illusion of floating in air. The cliff of Cabo Girão is worth a detour not only because of this pedestrian bridge, but also because of a first-class viewpoint (Miradouro Cabo Girão), which offers an overwhelming view over the entire southeastern coast of Madeira.

Holy shxx - this place is amazing, spectacular and scary at the same time (especially when you walk on the glass part of balcony). The view you get from the Cabo Girao is stunning (as long as the weather is good). What amazes me over and over again is the fact that you don't have to pay money or buy a ticket to get there. It's free - yes, free! We went there several times and enjoyed every moment we spent up there. Every now and then, the balcony gets a bit packed (especially when a bus full of tourists just stopped...) but then there are moments when there's hardly anyone up there. Definitely a MUST-SEE on Madeira island!

We visited the viewpoint in the afternoon and unfortunately it was full of tourists. According to the photos and videos, we expected that the view would be much bigger and the glass would be more transparent, so that you really feel that you have nothing under you. It was almost impossible to take a photo here without someone else in it. The sea view itself was also not one of the best we experienced in Madeira. Overall, I would recommend the viewpoint as a quick stop along the way, but you probably won't stay there for long. Honestly, the most interesting thing was the rush of lizards on a banana, see photo.
