Our whole family really enjoyed this beach. The vibe was great, there are 2 parking lots. One at the bottom of the road which is paved and one at the top of the hill just up the road on the way to Ericeira. There is a staircase to access the beach from it. The great thing about this beach is that there is some kind of river system that connects to the ocean where the water is much warmer and it provides a great place for younger kids to swim and play without fear of the ocean which is cold and can have aggressive waves. For the surfers this is a great spot. There is a place to rent surfing gear and plenty of places to eat with great food. At peak hours, it may hard to find a table so always a good idea to pack snacks. With the ocean breeze and the cool water, the temperature here is milder even on the hottest...

Very surprised with the lack of resources available to the lifeguards at this beach. I witnessed 2 kite boarders get into trouble today and had to alert the lifeguards as they didnt even see it unfold. 2 people jumped and swam after them then all of a sudden all 4 go missing around the headland.

There were strong currents and signs saying dont enter the water but that didnt stop them. This beach needs 1-2 jetskis and 1-2 rubber duckies (inflatable boats) to safely patrol that beach. Instead they have thise stupid red plastic cans from Baywatch and a couple of paddle boards, none of which were used.

I didnt hang around to see what eventuated but by my count 4 people were missing. Hope they are ok. And, i hope someone looks at the resources available to the lifeguards...

Arguably the best beach on the Ericeira coastline, it has everything that a beachgoer would want - families and surfers included.

There is a really relaxed vibe, with hire of equipment, restaurants, toilets, showers all available and an excellent parking lot.

Restaurants close at around 8pm, and the beach was pretty deserted at that point, so nice to chill and enjoy the sunset with few people around.

The surf is wonderful - great for surfing or just for messing around in the water. If you want better surf though, best to go to Ribeira to the North of the town.

Wish we had discovered this...

I love this beach for multiple reasons. Ample parking, the boardwalk is convinient, you have access to the river and the beach, and most importantly you have up to 5 bars with great views to the river and ocean. No tobacco can be bought in the bars which means less likely chance of seeing cigarette butts in the sand. Seems to be a great place for all types of surfing. Many tourists are found here due to the English speaking bars. The space is very comfortable and highly recommend a visit.
