This is perhaps the most popular and well-known place for ponta delgada island and one of the iconic image of the entire the Azores Islands. When you drive to this point with the road of flowers both side it's amazing .the Miradouro da Vista do Rei (King's Way Observation Point) in the Sete Cidades (Seven Cities) overlooking two crater lakes ("Lagoas das Sete Cidades"), both located within the volcano crater; they are referred respectively by the color of the waters: blue, reflecting the sky ("Lagoa Azul") and green, reflecting the ground ("Lagoa Verde").Weather is to much unpredictable here you be in a situation like rain ,cloud, sun at in a small time gap so be advised the what ever you see and wherever you plan to go or hike it's pretty much weather-dependent. One moment you are in situation of foggy or cloudy the next Cristal clear . Rainy days are sad for the miradour visited , visibility and colors will be affected. However this place takes your breath away the beauty of the location definitely let not to move on . recommend yo be there at least for half an hour while touring the island of Sâo Miguel.

This is probably the most popular and well-known image of the entire group of the Azores Islands. If you come across any tourist promotional material for the Azores, be it in print or web-based, the chances are you are going to see the images taken at the Miradouro da Vista do Rei (King's Way Observation Point) in the Sete Cidades (Seven Cities) overlooking two crater lakes ("Lagoas das Sete Cidades"), both located within the volcano crater; they are referred respectively by the color of the waters: blue, reflecting the sky ("Lagoa Azul") and green, reflecting the ground ("Lagoa Verde"). However, be advised that the beautiful colors of both lakes are not necessarily what you are going to see; it is strictly weather-dependent. As more foggy or cloudy the day of your visit is, both visibility and colors will be affected. That doesn't take away the inherent beauty of the location, but please be prepared not to get disappointed. 5 stars indeed. Should be your priority # 1 while touring the island of Sâo Miguel.

The outlook down into the valley is excellent - but make sure to double check the weather before heading out - we stopped by once while it was foggy and could see literally nothing; but returned the next day to stunning views. Beware though - it can also get extremely crowded and hard to park on a nice day - so consider aiming for early morning to beat the crowds. Exploring the abandoned hotel was also fascinating - and honestly, probably even better than the view itself. Strong note of caution obviously - it's an abandoned and decaying shell of a hotel, so it's certainly not a totally safe thing to do and I wouldn't recommend bringing children - but they have put some barriers up to the biggest hazards (i.e., the elevator shafts). If you follow the road a bit past where the main miradouru site is - there's a proper entrance to the hotel grounds.

Yes, this place is one of the most popular one. Yes, this place is a must visit if you are here. Yes, its often foggy and raining (200+ days per year), so I recommend looking at the online webcams of this place before going there. If you're lucky, its sunny, only cloudy or raining without fog then you will see a breathtaking and stunning lost place with an unforgettable view to the ocean, the crater and lakes. This place is big and with the overgrown environment stunning. The viewpoints are amazing. You need to experience it in your own. I did some photos of some views and from the place itself, just take a quick look and you know why I'm talking like that about this place. Btw this area is perfect for some amazing hikes.
