I recently spent a lovely day at Praia da Costa da Caparica just south of Lisbon and it quickly became one of my favorite coastal escapes. The beach stretches for many kilometers, offering plenty of space to enjoy sunbathing, swimming, or long walks along the golden sand. I was struck by the relaxed surf culture here and the variety of beach bars and casual restaurants serving fresh seafood and ice‑cold drinks. The waves are great for both beginners and experienced surfers, and I even tried a lesson offered right on the sand, which was both fun and memorable. Entry to the beach is free and there are affordable options for renting sunbeds, umbrellas, or surfboards. The only downside is that it can get crowded on sunny weekends, but even then there’s still room to find a peaceful spot. Pairing a grilled fish meal with a chilled vinho verde at one of the seasonal terraces was the perfect way to end the afternoon. Praia da Costa da Caparica offers a charming blend of natural beauty, energetic beach life, and accessibility, making it a must‑visit if you want a coastal break...

I loved this beach! ♥️

We have been there in September and it was beautiful, because there we're so little people and it felt like we were having the whole beach for ourselves. ✌🏼

There are nice female beach guards who attentivly look for you to not drown. 🏊🏽‍♂️🆘

The water was a bit cold at this time but I loved it because I felt so alive through this. It can be windy there and because of this also wavy, but that nice.

The beach was clean and and there are garbage can close to prevent people from throwing their rubbish elsewehere. Good Idea! Everyone in this area was really friendly and warm.

There are restaurant or little bars close, not too much but enough and the food was tasty. 🥙🍔

The only thing that I would have wished for would have be a sweet water shower, but maybe just because I have had this in south of france and liked it because you don't bring all the sand to your home and your not salty all the way back home. But don't worry about this.

It is...

Never in my life have I experienced a service which was as poor as this place. The shocked looked in the waiter’s eyes when we tried to order anything on the menu, as if it was the first time anyone spoke to them in general. They should require a minimum iq of 50 to be hired, I’ve seen dogs more capable of understanding the task at hand.

We ordered drinks and food throughout the day. The fastest delivery time of any of our orders was 40 minutes. Tables next to us were just as disappointed to be served by such a bunch of incapable people.

Save yourself the time and go...
