Capelinha de Nossa Senhora de Fatima is an old church set a top a hill with breathtaking panoramic views on a clear day. There is free street parking. Expect about 175 stairs to the top. The views are worth the climb. The chapel was not open on our visit, but I was able to see inside through the door. Simple, quaint, and small, it is a very beautiful place giving a serene and peaceful impression. It was not crowded when we were there, which was surprising, as I would recommend this as a must-see site while in Madeira. We were fortunate enough to time it right to hear the hourly bells. ✨️Side note: for an entirely different perspective, I would recommend driving to Igreja Nossa Senhora da Paz Catholic Church. Across the street is an overflow parking area with a vast views of the valley including a breathtaking view of Capelinha de Nossa Senhora de Fatima nestled a top the hill and the valley with views of the mountainous backdrop and a glimpse of the ocean. Photos do not do it justice. I submitted a review with photos if interested in seeing the view before making the drive. Capelinha de Nossa Senhora de Fatima is an absolute must-see while in Madeira!

really a very nice place to place the bell tower, from the place there is a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and the town below, when you add to all this the sunset that we experienced here, it has its own magical atmosphere... the place is near the main road which it leads across the island from one side to the other, so it's not out of hand at all and you don't need to drive somewhere in the mountains... we definitely recommend a visit, because the bell tower is one of the famous and photogenic places in Madeira

With good weather, this is one of the best viewpoints on the island. You can park along the road and walk up the stairs. If you want a longer hike, there are stairs going all the way down the hill opposite of the church. Drove up here to see the church and was completely taken aback by the scenic views

Beautiful location and a nice walk up to get to it. You can see São Vicente from up top and all the mountains surrounding you. The chapel is slightly worn down but nonetheless it's still a great point of interest to visit, especially as it is in an isolated area, making it feel more special.

Description
The Chapel of the Apparitions is a small chapel located in Cova da Iria that was first constructed in 1919, and again in the early 1920s, to mark the exact location where three little shepherd children reported having received the famous apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fátima, Portugal.
