The Castelo de Sesimbra, perched atop the Serra da Arrábida mountains in Portugal, offers a stunning vantage point for photographers. Its medieval architecture, surrounded by lush greenery and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, creates a dynamic contrast between natural beauty and historical allure.
From a photographer's perspective, the castle's stone walls, arched gateways, and towers provide compelling textures and shapes, especially during golden hour when the warm light enhances its weathered surfaces. The panoramic views of Sesimbra town, the coastline, and the shimmering ocean are breathtaking and perfect for wide-angle or aerial shots.(attached are some of my clicked pictures)

Read moreBeautiful Castle and Chapel, no entrance free, completely free. Its a fantastic walk from the Village through typical Mediterranean climate scrub vegetation with also some unique endémic plants only existing in the area of Sesimbra. Once up in the Castle the views are immensely beautiful overlooking the sea and the town of Sesimbra, nestled between the sea and the hills. Mostly little remains from the interior archaeology but the impressive walls are almost intact. Very peaceful up there. There is a beautiful chapel, a lovely coffee shop, free water fountains, free very well kept and clean toilets and a Cemetery, which can also be visited. It is unusual but also very interesting to see. Overall a place that has much to offer for its views, history and natural...
Read moreWe have walked to the castle from Sesimbra centre, which we have taken the route with the staircase, and it has taken us less than hour with plenty of stops on the way. The sight of castle when you reach the top is breathtaking. The Moorish castle is free to enter and the views from there over Sesimbra and the Atlantic are amazing. In the castle there's a 16th century church which is worth the visit to see all the interior designs made of tiles. It was nice to walk around the castle walls and read all about its history. We were surprised to see a cemetery inside the castle walls. There's a cafe which we stopped for cold drinks and ice creams. Also there are toilets which...
