Beautiful beach and so-what very popular. With so much people visiting this place it's become more and more dirty and "used". There are plenty garbage in the water. Also on the beach. At the evening is not possible to calmly sit because of fearless rats which completely ignore human presence that can even goes to your bag looking for food. The human presence is unfortunately visible either in the woods. Plenty of plastic bottles, used diapers etc. Sad. Especially that wild swines come and feed on those trashes!! Also parking lot isn't safe. There were one burglary incident when we came there at the morning (middle season, may 14th 2019) and another one at evening. Burglars come from bushes, broke window and stall items. Police come at the beach and by phones asking for car owners to come. They visiting the beach a few time sooner and few times later but ust seems not enough to keep things away. Residues of those kind incidents are visible all over the parking lots....
Read moreVery beautiful beach, you'd think you were on the Mediterranean. The sea is much calmer here and therefore the beach is also ideal with small children. The access to the beach is quite easy, at the point where the road is closed you can simply drive down to the right to park (5€ a day), from this car park you then walk another 5 minutes to the beach (easy path also possible with prams). If the car park is overcrowded, you can also park in the street (free of charge), but then the walk is of course longer (but there were 2 TukTuks on site to take people down to the beach (3€ per person).
There are also places to eat on the beach (snack bars) and sunbeds are also available. The right part of the beach is reserved for sunbeds and the left part is a normal beach without sunbeds (nicer part of the beach). At the end of the left-hand section of the beach there are larger stones/rocks between which you can walk and you come to other small sections of beach, definitely...
Read moreTruly otherworldly beach! So special and so secluded. I feel so grateful to have visited. Highly recommend a visit if you’re able.
Two things to consider:
Getting to the beach involves a somewhat strenuous walk up/down a hill. I managed to do it, but it was quite tiring.
If you are a tourist coming from Setúbal during off-season, it’s very tricky to get to and from this beach. My sister and I took an Uber to the beach, but our Uber driver informed us that it would be hard to book a return Uber. He was absolutely correct. We tried to book an Uber around 5:30 pm, and there were absolutely no Ubers in the area. I ended up calling a local taxi company (Taxis Setúbal), and they came to the rescue. Our driver was excellent, and the company was communicative and efficient.
All this to say— make sure to plan accordingly when you visit this incredible beach! The logistical hurtles are...
