Driving from the charming resort town of Sesimbra through the breathtaking Arrábida National Park toward Setúbal was an unforgettable experience. The route along the N379-1 coastal road offered stunning views at every turn, framed by rugged limestone cliffs, dense pine and cork forests, and vibrant wildflowers that added splashes of color to the landscape.

Despite the overcast June skies, the fresh Atlantic breeze filled the air with a crisp, invigorating scent. The temperature hovered around a perfect 24°C, making it ideal for a relaxed and immersive drive.

As I wound along the coastline, the dramatic cliffs occasionally opened up to panoramic vistas of the Troia Peninsula, visible in the distance like a mirage across the water. The natural beauty of this region is raw, unspoiled, and truly awe-inspiring.

Whether you’re a nature lover, photographer, or simply someone looking to enjoy Portugal’s coastal charm, this drive is a must. What an amazing scenic drive—it’s a memory that will linger long after...

What a beautiful view! 🤩 A nice mountain and zig zag trip to get there and then there is a clear and long view to the ocean.

It's possible to see the bottom of the ocean as the water is shallow and very clear.

One can also see the villages nearby and even the islands.

If you came here I recommend to try the beaches down too.

Be careful that there might not be space here to park the car. However just a few meters up the road there is another parking spot and then you can...

This place was cool. I remember it from a Rick Steves episode where the fisherman's wives wear many layers of skirts to keep warm. Now I realize it's kind of a tourist thing that the tourist expect. Women in Portugal are so modern they like the same styles as we do. Visit once, take a few pictures then that's that. The view down to the Nazarene beach is wonderful. That's the real place to visit...

Very nice viewpoint with a spectacular coastline view. Near the viewpoint is a glider ramp that is a little old. If you are very careful, you can climb down and take some cool photos. Be carefall, you could fall down a cliff. The Estrada de Escarpa (N379-1) is one of the most scenic roads in the area. This spot on the road provides stunning views over the rolling hills, the beaches and the sea.
