📍The waterfall is situated on Clocota river, at the entrance of the Geoagiu Băi resort, having a difference of level of almost 20 meters, due to a steep rupture in the terrain. The water 💧 washed the roots of some trees from the upper side of the falls, causing them to fall and get partially or totally embedded in the travertine deposits, thus creating successive folds on the entire height of the fall. Layers of moss and hanging plants developed over these folds, giving this waterfall a distinct aspect👌. ℹ️The waters of Clocota river collect all the thermo-mineral springs in the area and, due to their temperature, they are a good environment for thermal water specific plants🌱, and animals such as salamanders 🦎(that cannot be found in other areas). 📌You can reach the waterfall either following Școlii street (a fifteen minute walk👣 from the center of the village), or on the path that leaves the road leading to Geoagiu City (you can see the falls from the road in about 40 minutes).

We really loved this waterfall. it's a beautiful sight and you can even stand behind the waterfall and see the water pour down in front of you. Best waterfall we have ever visited! You basically have two access road to the waterfall one just before the city on a grass parking (you will see a sign Clocate fall on the road up to the city. It was hard to find parking inside the city but the access road from the city gives you the best view. However, if you're a bit adventurous and don't mind wet feet on a warm day you can park just before the city and climb up the waterfall to the city viewpoint. We did this with 2 kids from 4 and 6 without problems.

Cascada Clocota din Gioagiu-Băi este una din cele două cascade termale din România (cealaltă fiind la Toplița, județul Harghita), fenomen rar în întreaga lume. Cascada este situată pe Pârâul Clocota la marginea estică a stațiunii balneare Geoagiu-Băi, la circa 15 minute de mers de jos din centru. Cu o înălțime de circa 20 m, Cascada Clocota este deosebit de spectaculoasă datorită depunerilor albicioase de travertin sub formă de cruste subțiri succesive acoperind stâncile și rădăcinile copacilor pe care curge apa. Depunerile sunt formate din travertin, rocă sedimentară formată prin precipitarea carbonatului de calciu sub formă de calcit din apele minerale bogate în carbonați. În partea de sus a cascadei, aceste depuneri creează cruste ondulate, falduri sau chiar un fel de stalactite pe rădăcini. În partea inferioară, sub cascada propriu-zisă, depunerile carbonatice formează mici bazine cu contur semicircular. Apa termominerală din cascada Clocota ar avea o temperatură de 27°C deoarece pârâul colectează izvoarele termale din amonte, după unii acestea fiind în număr de 16. Din acest motiv se spune că această cascadă nu îngheață niciodată, deși la fel ca la Toplița, în perioadele de geruri extreme se formează cruste subțiri sau țurțuri de gheață. Depunerile continui și destul de abundente de travertin, la fel ca la Toplița, duc la modficarea permamentă a aspectului Cascadei Clocota și de la an la an ne putem aștepta la modificări evidente. Pe porțiunile stropite de apa cascadei apare o vegetație cu alge și mușchi, specifică apelor termale. Dintre organismele endemice este amintită o specie de salamandre și una de ferigi.

Clocota Waterfall is a hidden gem, close to Orastie and Deva. Worth to go there just to spend half an hour admiring it, take some photos and imagine you are in Bali because yes it can be compared to one of the waterfalls from there. The water is thermal and if you are brave you can even have a quick bath. I reccomend going there early in the morning because it is quiet without tourists.

Beautiful waterfall, hidden in the forest. It's really close the the pools in Geoagiu, but the scenery is very different. The loud waterfall provides a calming scenery for anyone that needs a few moments far away from the noise of the city. Of course Geoagiu has more to offer than this waterfall, but that is for another review.

Cascada Clocota..... cu siguranță este un loc sau mai bine spus o zonă în care trebuie să ajungi ! Mie mi-a plăcut foarte mult aici și pot spune că dacă nu aș fi vrut să văd și Termele Germisara, Grota Haiducilor și Stațiunea Geoagiu Băi..... aș fi rămas ore întregi aici, la Cascadă! Se spune că la Geoagiu Băi, aerul ozonat și frumusețea locurilor te face să te simți la fel de bine, sau poate chiar mai bine, decât la Băile Herculane! Pe mine m-a fermecat drumul prin pădurea împodobită în "straie" de Toamnă, cascada..... totul! Se poate ajunge la cascadă și prin pădure, la intrarea în Stațiunea Geoagiu Băi, sau din Stațiune. Oricum sunt indicatoare, iar drumul până la cascadă este destul de scurt și ușor de făcut. Cascada Clocota se formează din cele 16 izvoare termominerale și dintr-un râuleț și se spune că nu îngheață niciodată. Da, cred că această cascadă.... aș vrea să o văd și să o revăd de mai multe ori, nu doar o dată!
