One of a kind beach experience, a seaside village that comes to life during summer in a never-ending festival vibe. Bars along the sea, terraces on the beach, freedom, music, love, happiness. Pretty crowded during the weekend in summer, but many people leave on weekdays. May be nice and peaceful during late summer, beginning of autumn. It used to be a wild secluded beach 20 years ago, a destination only for people in search of the wild. Now it became one of the most famous beach resorts in Romania. A disputable thing, but I've been loving it for years in all its evolution, and haven't managed to find such a place anywhere else in the world so far. 🩵
Later edit: can't find the place I used to love anymore. It's been captured by people who have nothing to do with the Vama Veche spirit. Bad taste in everything, from music to manners... It's really all gone. Maybe nicer to visit in...
Read moreBig disappointment. In many areas the fences of the beach bars are so high that you cannot see the sea from the "walking promenade" (reminds me of Lebanon & their beach bars).
Very loud during the day and until 6am.
Overcrowded.
Dirty, with cigarette buds & other garbage everywhere.
Most tourists seem to behave in ways that may not be pleasant to just anyone: loud voices, yelling (the adults, not the kids), swearing (bad language if you're trying to educate your kids), loud music from at least 2 different places everywhere.

Drive carefully, ask about the road since some streets are narrow and crowded, one ways streets, some GPS issues at recognising streets and crossroads at return.
Beach is 5 minutes from main street, so why bother when you can simply walk? But its ok, most people are perfectly fine with these streets and Vama Veche is one of the most memorable places for them.
