The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, built in 1714 on the site of a burned-down church, is a "summer" (unheated) church that stands 37 meters tall and is crowned with 22 domes. Actually the boat trip itself is beuatiful The Church was built in 1714 and understanably is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is renowned for being constructed entirely of wood without the use of nails, except for the domes and roof shingles. From the photoes it is possible to see some of the 22 domes in its 37 meters tall structure and that makes it one of the tallest wooden buildings in Northern Europe. Церковь Преображения Господня – это летний храм, освящен в 1714 году. Церковь строилась на народные средства. К сожалению, история не сохранила имен мастеров, известно лишь, что строительством занималась артель заонежских плотников, а помогала им вся округа. Строили церковь, как заведено было на Руси, не по проектам и чертежам, а по традициям, которые передавались из поколения в поколение, из уст в уста.

В качестве материала использовалась корабельная сосна, лемех построен из осины. Основу церкви составляет большой восьмигранный сруб, на который поставлен восьмигранник меньшего объема, а на него третий – самый маленький. Три восьмерика создают пирамидальную основу церкви. Сруб сделан действительно без одного гвоздя, только топором. Чтобы сооружение было устойчивым, его с четырех сторон света подпирают четыре прируба.

У Церкви 22 главы, ее общая высота 37 м. Хотя ее силуэт доминирует над всей округой, однако находясь рядом с церковью, человек не ощущает подавляющей высоты и мощи бревенчатой громады.

40 лет церковь была закрыта. Реконструкция иконостаса закончилась в 2019 году, но из-за пандемии музей в 2020 году был закрыт, так что первые посетители увидели это чудо только в 2021 году.
