Triumphal Arch for Tsar Nicholas II — Attraction in Vladivostok

The arch was built in honor of the visit to our city in honor of the Prince Nicolas the heir to the royal throne - when he visited Vladivostok in 1981. To expand his horizons, Nikolai Alexandrovich made a world trip at that time and the sea stage of the Tsarevich’s journey just ended in Vladivostok. Local authorities, learning about this, decided in honor of the arrival of the distinguished guest to build the Arc de Triomphe, which should further emphasize the solemnity of the event. Given the fact that the prince arrived in Vladivostok by sea, the place for future construction was chosen with all scrupulousness and thoroughness - it was decided to build the Triumphal Gate on Admiral's Marina. The choice was largely influenced by the fact that not far from the chosen place is the coast of the famous Golden Horn Bay. It was here that the founders of our city once landed, and it was from here that Vladivostok subsequently began. The heir to the royal throne during his visit laid not only a monument to Admiral Nevelsky, a dry dock for repairing ships, but also a new railway with a stone station - all these structures were preserved in good condition, and sow the day. According to historians, the visit of the crown prince contributed to the rapid development of the city. The arch itself consists of four, separately standing, stone foundations with gray-yellow walls erected on them, decorated in turn with ancient Russian multi-colored ornaments. Первоначально арка была сооружена 11 мая 1891 года для встречи наследника цесаревича Николая, тогда еще 23-х летнего, в рамках посещения им Дальнего Востока, начала строительства Транссиба и называлась арка- Николаевские Триумфальные ворота. Строили всем миром, арка объединила лучших предпринимателей города Владивостока и Приморского края, купцов, промышленников, простых горожан. Правда простояло сооружение не многим более 30-ти лет, так как в годы Советской власти Арка пришла в упадок и в 1927 году была взорвана. С тех пор прошло несколько десятилетий, прежде чем стал подниматься вопрос о восстановлении арки в ее историческом месте. Нашлись люди, организации, с помощью которых была проведена большая работа: подготовлен проект на основании архивных документов и старинных фотографий, нашлись средства, а они наверное не малые и конечно само возведение арки, строительство, оно шло около года. Торжественное открытие арки Цесаревича - Николаевских Триумфальных Ворот- состоялось 16 мая 2003 года. Арка построена на пересечении оси, проходящей по аллее фонтанов и ведущей к 36 причалу, и оси, проходящей между зданиями Приморского краевого театра кукол и филиала музея им. В.К.Арсеньева.
