Bengawan Solo — Attraction in Singapore

Can’t fault the quality of products, but the staff here are cold and unhelpful, do not provide any information when queried and appear visibly irritated and impatient.

I mean it’s not unreasonable to ask about he differences of these nonya kueh with Malay / Nonya names. I would imagine many who don’t grow up eating these local kueh can’t tell the difference just from looking at them and the names.

Not to mention, this particular outlet is also situated at Bukit Timah where many of the residents are expats who want to try out these local delicacies for the first time and feel overwhelmed by the names and vast selection. However the staff here can’t be bothered to explain the differences at all and appear completely annoyed when one takes a bit longer to decide on...

Nice enjoyable kueh kueh. I grew up eating this and was pleasantly surprised to find this here years back.

Have been buying this for tea every now and then to enjoy that Nonya feeling with my family. :)

Consistent quality and I love all the various kueh. Spoilt for choice!!! The biscuits are more costly and large quantity so I seldom buy but they are not bad as well. The sugee, macadamia, green pea biscuits etc.

Can’t expect the staff here to smile and serve you super well lah. It’s just a simple space tucked in a dark corner of the foyer. Lol just buy the kueh and fly away.

the nonya kueh is relatively decent would rate it as 3.5 stars. However, as already noted by a number of reviewers, the customer service of the staff working here is completely lacking. This is especially so when you inquire about arrival time of the kuehs - rude and curt. In fact, this rude/curt behavior of the staff is not just for Guthrie House but consistently observed over many of their outlets. Maybe this is one of the criteria for Bengawan Solo when their recruit their staff? If otherwise, Bengawan Solo might seriously want to look into this aspect?
