Gedung Kuning — Attraction in Singapore

I was immediately struck by the restaurant's beautiful decor and entrance. It felt as though I had stepped into a scene from "Crazy Rich Asians." However, I regret to say that the stunning ambiance was the only highlight of our experience, as everything else unfortunately fell short.

The fine-dining buffet presented us with cold food, and many of the cooked dishes lacked the warmth and flavor one would expect. The chili crab was particularly disappointing, and the Mee Goreng Mamak was overly sweet for my taste. The nasi kerabu and risotto served was depressing, the drinks were mostly diluted and the steak was served cold and undercooked. The one redeeming aspect of the meal was the combination of nasi putih, daging hitam berempah, and stir-fried cabbage, which I found enjoyable. Unfortunately, the rest of the savory dishes and desserts were underwhelming.

The service also left much to be desired. One staff member made us uncomfortable by repeatedly clearing our plates even before we had finished eating, hovering around our table and constantly checking our dishes. For the price of the buffet, this level of service and the food standards offered felt unacceptable.

Additionally, when I made the reservation, there was an option to indicate the type of event we were celebrating, which I marked as a birthday. Sadly, it seemed our celebration went unnoticed, as the restaurant acknowledged other birthday reservations but overlooked ours entirely.
